• Chris Roycroft joins Cardinals as 27th man
Chris Roycroft will serve as the Cardinals’ 27th man in Wednesday’s game against the Orioles.

Advice: Roycroft was sent down Monday after allowing four runs over six innings in two weeks with the Cardinals. He’ll head back to Triple-A after the game. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

  • Serving as 27th man Wednesday
The Orioles recalled Vespi from Triple-A Norfolk and designated him as the 27th man for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Because the Orioles and Cardinals resumed Tuesday's suspended game earlier Wednesday, both teams were allotted a 27th man for the contest that was initially scheduled for Wednesday. Vespi will provide the Orioles with a fresh arm out of the bullpen for the series finale but will likely be returned to Norfolk immediately following the game. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago

  • Orioles add Nick Vespi as 27th man
Nick Vespi has been added as the Orioles’ 27th man for Wednesday’s game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Both teams get a 27th man for the regularly scheduled game as a result of having to finish last night’s suspended game today. Vespi, who had a 4.17 ERA in 41 innings of relief for the Orioles between 2022 and ’23, has yet to pitch in the majors this season. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

  • Could return this weekend
Maeda (illness) could rejoin the Tigers' rotation Saturday or Sunday versus the Blue Jays, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: Petzold notes that Maeda is lined up to pitch one of those days this weekend, but the Tigers have not yet divulged any official plans on that front. The right-hander has been on the shelf since mid-May with a viral illness but made a rehab start this past weekend and got through a bullpen session Wednesday with no concerns. Matt Manning is slated to make another start for Detroit on Friday but could be sent back down after that to make room for Maeda in the rotation. Rotowire.com 22 minutes ago

  • Serving as 27th man Wednesday
The Cardinals recalled Roycroft from Triple-A Memphis and designated him as the 27th man for Wednesday's game against the Orioles, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Because the Orioles and Cardinals resumed Tuesday's suspended game earlier Wednesday, both teams were allotted a 27th man for the contest that was initially scheduled for Wednesday. Roycroft will provide the Cardinals with a fresh arm out of the bullpen for the series finale but will likely be returned to Memphis immediately following the game. Rotowire.com 23 minutes ago

  • Rays designate Erasmo Ramírez for assignment
Rays designated RHP Erasmo Ramírez for assignment.

Advice: Ramírez had a 4.50 ERA and a 9/6 K/BB in 16 innings out of the Rays pen. If he clears waivers, there’s a good chance he’ll remain in the organization, though he’ll have the right to become a free agent. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago
  • Removed from 40-man roster
Ramirez was designated for assignment by the Rays on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Ramirez gets the boot off Tampa Bay's 26-man and 40-man rosters after holding a 4.50 ERA and 9:6 K:BB across 16 innings. The right-hander seems likely to clear waivers and could wind up remaining in the organization. Rotowire.com 43 minutes ago
  • Gets second win Tuesday
Erceg (2-2) got the win against the Rockies on Tuesday, firing a perfect eighth inning.

Advice: Erceg's blink-and-you-missed-it frame was done in a tidy 11 pitches, seven which he located for strikes. The 29-year-old right-hander has had a couple of hiccups along the way, but he sports a pair of saves and seven holds alongside his two wins. Erceg, who's now averaging 98.6 mph on his fastball this season, has the stuff to form a gnarly 1-2 punch with dominant closer Mason Miller in the late innings, and he lowered his ERA and WHIP back to 3.32 and 1.05, respectively, with what was his third scoreless effort in the last four appearances. • Quality start Tuesday
Brooks did not factor into the decision in the Athletics' win over the Rockies on Tuesday, allowing three earned runs on six hits and a walk over six innings. He also hit a batter and struck out three.

Advice: The three runs off the journeyman right-hander came from home runs, as Ryan McMahon tagged him for a two-run shot in the first before Ezequiel Tovar slugged one of his two round-trippers on the night in the fifth. Otherwise, Brooks turned in a smooth, efficient outing, one that saw him get through his six frames on just 85 pitches. The 34-year-old has been a pleasant surprise with consecutive quality starts since being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on May 15, and with Paul Blackburn (foot), Alex Wood (shoulder) and Joe Boyle (back) all on the injured list, Brooks lines up for another turn Sunday at home against the Astros, a team he held to three runs over seven frames in his season debut last Wednesday.
