• Sent back to minors
The Reds optioned Zulueta to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.

Advice: Zulueta made his major-league debut in Tuesday's 9-5 loss to the Pirates, striking out four and allowing one run over a three-inning relief appearance. He'll head back to Louisville to make space on the roster for Graham Ashcraft, who has been recalled from Louisville to start Wednesday's series finale versus Pittsburgh. • Recalled ahead of start
The Reds recalled Ashcraft from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.

Advice: Ashcraft will get the start Wednesday against the Pirates, taking the rotation spot of the injured Nick Lodolo (finger). The right-hander has struggled at the big-league level this season, collecting a 5.05 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 62.1 innings over 12 starts. He appeared to get back on track in two starts with Louisville, giving up a total of four runs with a 12:2 K:BB over 12 innings. Ashcraft will likely be needed for multiple starts and will try to make a case to stick in the Reds rotation indefinitely. Rotowire.com Today, 7:08 am

  • Fans eight in no-decision
Peterson came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Yankees, allowing one run on three hits and five walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Despite being staked to a 6-0 lead by the end of the fourth inning, Peterson wasn't efficient enough to qualify for his fourth straight win as he needed 103 pitches (62 strikes) to record his 13 outs. The southpaw has walked multiple batters in four straight outings but has mostly been able to limit the damage, and he'll take a 3.67 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 20:13 K:BB through 27 innings into his next start, which is currently scheduled to come on the road early next week against the Nationals. The Mets begin a stretch of 17 straight games without a day off Friday, however, which could require some juggling of the rotation. Rotowire.com Today, 5:38 am

  • Hit hard early
Gomber (1-5) took the loss Tuesday against Houston, allowing five runs on eight hits and no walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: All five runs against Gomber came in the first inning, when he allowed four consecutive singles to open the frame as part of a six-hit inning that included a pair of stolen bases. However, the 30-year-old settled in after the nightmare first frame, allowing just two baserunners afterward before a Jake Meyers double prompted Colorado to remove Gomber after 89 pitches. Gomber has endured a rough June, yielding at least three runs in all five starts and only completing six innings once. He owns a 9.39 ERA with 15 strikeouts over 23.0 innings during the month. He's tentatively scheduled for a home start against Milwaukee early next week. Rotowire.com Today, 12:11 am
  • Gomber allows five earned runs in loss to Astros
Austin Gomber allowed eight hits and five earned runs over 5 1/3 innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Astros.

Advice: Gomber was tuned up for six hits and five earned runs in the first inning, as the Astros sent all nine hitters to the plate against the Rockies’ lefty. It was a flurry of singles off Gomber that resulted in the five-run frame, with the last resulting in a two-RBI hit by Chas McCormick. Gomber needed 33 pitches to get through the inning but later settled in to pitch 4 1/3 scoreless frames the rest of the way. Still, the early disaster proved to be too much for Gomber, as the Rockies managed just six hits on the night against the Astros. Gomber has allowed four earned runs or more in each of his last four starters. Fantasy managers should look elsewhere for starters next Monday, as he’s set to start against the Brewers. • David Peterson loses command in no decision
David Peterson allowed one run on three hits in 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Yankees.

Advice: Peterson also struck out eight but walked five on the day. He was gifted a 6-1 lead, but he was unable to pitch deep enough to get the win as he walked two straight batters after getting the first out in the fifth inning and was removed before facing a right-handed batter. The left-hander had an impressive 31 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW on the day, but he struggled to find the zone with his fastball and now has 10 walks over his last three starts. He hasn’t been consistent since coming off the IL, but he has flashed some swing-and-miss that could keep him on the streaming radar. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:37 pm

  • Graham Ashcraft starting Wednesday vs. Pirates
Graham Ashcraft will start on Wednesday against the Pirates.

Advice: Ashcraft will get the call back to the majors to take the ball in place of Nick Lodolo, who landed on the injured list with a blister issue. The 26-year-old righty holds a lackluster 5.05 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 49/21 K/BB ratio across 62 1/3 innings (12 starts) this season in the big leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:27 pm

  • Headed to majors
The Reds will recall Ashcraft from Triple-A Louisville to start against the Pirates on Wednesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Ashcraft had been one of the candidates to replace Nick Lodolo (finger) in the Reds' rotation, and it now appears the spot is officially his. Ashcraft was optioned to Triple-A earlier in the month after putting up a 5.05 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 62.1 innings over 12 starts, and he's bounced back nicely with Louisville, giving up four earned runs in 12 innings while striking out 12 batters and walking two. The 26-year-old righty will almost certainly make multiple starts during his stint with the Reds, but he'll likely be pushed back to Triple-A once Lodolo returns from the IL. • Josiah Gray sharp on Tuesday in rehab outing
Josiah Gray (elbow) allowed one run over six innings on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: Gray struck out four, didn’t hand out a free pass, and got up to around 90 pitches in his latest rehab outing. The 26-year-old righty should be ready to return to Washington’s starting rotation at some point later this week or early next week. He’s been on the shelf since early April due to a flexor strain in his right elbow. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:31 pm
