• Goes three scoreless in rehab start
Brubaker (elbow) tossed three scoreless innings and struck out two in his first rehab start Wednesday with Single-A Tampa Bay. He gave up two hits and no walks.

Advice: Making his first appearance in affiliated ball since October 2022 following a prolonged recovery from Tommy John surgery, Brubaker exhibited few signs of rust Wednesday, albeit while matching up against a lineup of lower-level Cardinals prospects. Given that Brubaker handled three innings and 22 pitches in the rehab start, the Yankees are seemingly preparing to build him up as a rotation option once he returns from the 60-day injured list. At the moment, the Yankees don't have an opening in the rotation, and if little changes on that front over the next few weeks, Brubaker will likely be optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after he completes his rehab assignment. • Completes third rehab outing
Hall (knee) struck out one and allowed one hit and two walks over 1.1 innings in his latest rehab outing Thursday with Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Hall has now made three starts for Nashville since resuming his rehab assignment June 13, but he has yet to cover more than two innings or throw more than 36 pitches in any of those outings. His usage would seem to hint that the Brewers envision Hall filling a multi-inning relief role upon his return from the 60-day injured list, after he struggled through four starts with Milwaukee (7.71 ERA, 2.27 WHIP in 16.1 innings) before being shut down April 21 with a left knee sprain. • Shuts out Brewers over five frames
Vasquez (2-4) earned the win over the Brewers on Saturday, allowing five hits and three walks over five shutout innings while striking out three.

Advice: Vasquez struggled with his command early on, issuing walks to three of the first six batters he faced. However, the right-hander would not walk another batter from that point on as he held the Brewers' lineup scoreless over five frames. It was a nice bounceback effort for Vasquez after he surrendered a season-high six runs in his last start. He's now gone at least six innings in five of his last six outings. On the downside, he also issued a season-high three walks in the contest and has walked multiple batters in three consecutive starts. Rotowire.com Jun 23, 5:41 am
  • Randy Vasquez fires five scoreless in win Saturday
Randy Vasquez pitched well in Saturday’s victory over the Brewers, scattering five hits over five scoreless innings of work.

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander also issued three free passes in the contest while striking out three. The biggest threat against him came in his final inning of work, as the Brewers put two men on with two outs and William Contreras crushed a ball to the wall in center field that came up just short of being a three-run homer. Vasquez generated just three whiffs on 98 pitches on the day, registering a minuscule CSW of only 17 percent. He’ll look to carry over the momentum from this fine outing as he brings a 5.10 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and a 31/12 K/BB ratio (47 2/3 innings) into Friday’s showdown against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. • Throwing live BP
Manager Bob Melvin said Saturday that Cobb (hip/shoulder) has progressed to throwing live batting practice, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: The Giants skipper added that Cobb isn't far off from beginning a rehab assignment, though he didn't give an estimate as to when the right-hander might be ready to report to a minor-league affiliate. Once the 36-year-old begin his assignment, he'll certainly require a lengthy stay in the minors after spending the first three months of the season on the injured list following offseason hip surgery in addition to a bout with soreness in his pitching shoulder. • Chased in second inning
Rodriguez (0-2) yielded five runs (four earned) on two hits and three walks over 1.1 innings Friday, striking out one batter and taking a loss against the Guardians.

Advice: Rodriguez began his outing with a scoreless inning before Cleveland racked up seven runs in the second frame. It was his first appearance since April 29 due to a back injury. His season ERA jumped from 4.11 to 5.94 through 16.2 innings. The 27-year-old righty is lined up to make his next appearance in Boston next week, but his spot in the rotation seems far from secure. Rodriguez has yet to complete more than four innings in a start this season. Rotowire.com Jun 21, 7:44 pm
  • Yariel Rodríguez can’t get through two innings
Yariel Rodríguez lasted just 1 1/3 innings on Friday against the Guardians and allowed four earned runs. He walked three batters and struck out just one.

Advice: Rodríguez’s return to the Blue Jays’ rotation left a lot to be desired. His usually impressive slider did not look sharp and was moving less compared to before his injury. Without that, he didn’t have a put-away pitch and struggled to retire nearly every batter he faced. He’d built up to about 80 pitches in April and could get back there with legitimate strikeout upside if the Jays let him. He just isn’t there yet. Rotoworld Jun 21, 6:48 pm
