  • Earns win in team debut
    Plesac (1-0) earned the win in Monday's 5-3 victory over Milwaukee, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out one batter over six innings.

    Advice: Plesac was called upon for an emergency start after projected starter Jose Soriano was unable to pitch due to an abdominal issue. Plesac did quite well considering the circumstances, squeaking by with a quality start and a victory in his first game as an Angel. He gave up two home runs and notched just one punchout, with the latter number serving as a reminder of one of Plesac's biggest flaws -- he's never never posted higher than a 6.8 K/9 in a full big-league season. If Soriano misses additional time, Plesac could get at least one more turn in the rotation, though he isn't likely to be a popular waiver-wire target in fantasy circles.   • Zach Plesac picks up victory in return to majors
    Zach Plesac delivered a quality start in his return to the majors Monday, yielding three runs in six innings in a victory over the Brewers.

    Advice: Plesac, an emergency starter because of José Soriano’s abdominal issue, succeeded while averaging just 89.9 mph with his fastball, striking out only one batter and giving up two homers tonight.     Anderson (elbow) will pitch in a Florida Complex League game Tuesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Anderson has been working his way back from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in April 2023 and Tuesday's outing will be his first in the recovery process. The right-hander will likely need to build up his workload over a series of weeks, including a multi-start rehab assignment before he'd be able to be activated from the minor-league 60-day injured list, but Tuesday is a welcome sign nonetheless.   • Cruises to easy win
    Peterson allowed two runs on four hits and three walks over six innings Monday, striking out six and earning a win over the Rangers.

    Advice: Peterson delivered a quality start as the Mets piled on 14 runs of support in the victory. He's earned three straight wins and has produced a quality start in two of his first four outings this season. He dropped his ERA to 3.97 with a 12:8 K:BB through 22.2 innings.   • Peterson wins third consecutive start Monday
    David Peterson allowed two runs in six innings and got the win in the Mets’ 14-2 victory over the Rangers on Monday.



    Advice: Peterson gave up four hits, walked three and struck out six. He’s now won three consecutive starts and the six strikeouts were a season-high. A former first round pick by the Mets in 2017, Peterson is once again getting a chance in the Mets’ rotation and seems to be making the most of it. He struggled with a 5.03 ERA in 27 appearances last year, but his 3.59 xFIP suggested he wasn’t quite that bad. He now has a 3.97 ERA in four starts this year. The 28-year-old left-hander is set to face the Cubs on the road this weekend.

  • Gives up season-high six runs
    Vasquez (1-4) took the loss after he gave up six runs in 4.1 innings Monday against the Phillies. He allowed 12 hits, walked two and struck out two.

    Advice: Vasquez was knocked around by the Phillies on Monday, and the 12 hits he allowed were a career high for the righty. Home runs by Kyle Schwarber and Alec Bohm accounted for most of the damage, but Vasquez was working around baserunners all evening.   • Shut down for a week
    Waldrep (elbow) will be shut down from throwing for one week, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

    Advice: Waldrep is dealing with right elbow inflammation, and he'll now be forced to take a seat for at least a week before attempting to build his activity back up.     Randy Vásquez was lit up for six runs over 4 1/3 innings on Monday in a loss to the Phillies.

    Advice: Vásquez was tagged for an astounding 12 hits, including a pair of homers, and was saddled with his fourth loss of the year. He struck out two and also issued a pair of walks.   • Expected to join team in San Diego
    Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that Junis (shoulder) is expected to return from the 60-day injured list during the team's four-game road series against the Padres that begins Thursday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

    Advice: Junis will meet the team in San Diego, barring any discomfort following his simulated game in Arizona on Monday. The 31-year-old has been on the injured list since April 6 with a right shoulder impingement and had his return further delayed when he was struck in the head by a ball during the Brewers' April 22 batting practice session. He looks to have recovered from both injuries, however, and appears to be on the cusp of a return to the major-league roster. Given that Junis already built up to four innings in a sim game prior to Monday's outing, he should be a candidate to join the Brewers' depleted rotation this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:23 pm
