• Tosses bullpen Monday
Musgrove (elbow) threw a "light" bullpen session Monday, per MLB.com.

Advice: This was Musgrove's first bullpen since going on the 15-day IL due to right elbow inflammation in early May. The right-hander is expected to throw another bullpen Wednesday, and if that goes well, he could return to the Padres' rotation without needing a rehab stint. Musgrove is tracking toward making his next start during San Diego's May 17-20 series in Atlanta. Rotowire.com Today, 10:03 am

  • Officially added to roster
The Pirates recalled Mlodzinski from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Advice: Mlodzinsk has posted an unappealing 6.43 ERA and 13:7 K:BB over 14 innings this season with Indianapolis. However, he fared well with the Pirates in 2023 with a 2.25 ERA in 35 outings and the club will hope to get something closer to that version during this stint. Rotowire.com Today, 10:02 am
  • Optioned to Triple-A
The Pirates optioned Priester to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Advice: With Paul Skenes in the fold and Bailey Falter pitching well enough to keep his rotation spot, Priester becomes the odd man out. He holds a 4.33 ERA and 17:10 K:BB over 27 innings covering five starts with the big club this season. Priester will join the Indianapolis rotation and likely will be the first to be called upon when the Pirates need a starter. Rotowire.com Today, 9:59 am
  • Pirates call up Carmen Mlodzinski for bullpen help
Pirates recalled RHP Carmen Mlodzinski from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: Mlodzinski will be making his season debut after missing the start of the year with elbow inflammation. He had a 2.25 ERA over 36 innings of relief work for the Pirates as a rookie last season, but he might not currently be quite the same pitcher now that he was then; he had a 6.43 ERA in 14 innings in Triple-A this year. • Pirates send down Quinn Priester after loss
Pirates optioned RHP Quinn Priester to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: The Pirates will go back to a five-man rotation for now. Priester had an adequate 4.33 ERA in his five starts, but that came with just 17 strikeouts and seven homers allowed in 27 innings. Rotoworld Today, 9:56 am
  • Garrett Whitlock sharp in rehab start
Garrett Whitlock (oblique) pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out five, in his rehab start for Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday.

Advice: Whitlock is slated to come off the injured list and rejoin the Red Sox rotation next week. The Red Sox could go to six starters for a spell then or send Cooper Criswell, who has been terrific, either to the bullpen or Triple-A. Rotoworld Today, 9:53 am

  • Mets add Joey Lucchesi for Wednesday start
Mets recalled LHP Joey Lucchesi from Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Lucchesi will be making his season debut after amassing a 2.58 ERA and a 28/16 K/BB ratio over 38 1/3 innings in seven starts for Norfolk. He’ll serve as the spot starter against the Phillies today and then probably get returned to Triple-A. Rotoworld Today, 9:27 am

  • Mets recall reliever Grant Hartwig
Mets recalled RHP Grant Hartwig from Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Hartwig will rejoin the pen. He allowed two runs in three innings during an earlier stint with the team. Overall, he has a 4.93 ERA in 38 1/3 innings the last two years. Rotoworld Today, 9:26 am
  • Nabs win Tuesday
Scott (2-4) picked up the win in Tuesday's extra-inning victory over the Tigers, giving up a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out two.

Advice: Rather than being held back for a possible save situation in extra innings on the road, Scott got the call in the ninth with the score tied 0-0 and was able to escape the jam he created. The southpaw hasn't allowed an earned run in 10 straight appearances, but Scott's been far from sharp during that time, posting an 11:7 K:BB in 9.1 innings. That's still an improvement on his early-season performance, and his 2.12 ERA on the year isn't supported by his 1.53 WHIP or 18:17 K:BB in 17 frames. Scott is still the Marlins' closer and has converted four of five save chances, but A.J. Puk got the save in the 10th inning Tuesday and could be a threat to take the job now that he's moved back into the bullpen. Rotowire.com Today, 9:24 am
