    Advice: Newman ended the night with a walk-off, two-run single off Cincinnati closer Alexis Diaz, who had hit a batter and walked two before the shortstop played hero. It was the third consecutive game with multiple hits for Newman, who is 8-for-12 with four doubles, a triple, two RBI and four runs scored during that stretch. He's added 74 points to his batting average -- from .179 to .253 -- due to this outburst and is more in line with his career mark of .259. He had become the team's primary shortstop, because his glove was more reliable than rookie Blaze Alexander.     Advice: Blanco was 1-for-2 on stolen base attempts in the game. The outfielder began the year in a bench role, but he's hit his way into starting four of the last five games with time at all three outfield positions. He's gone 7-for-17 (.412) since May 6. Blanco doesn't have much of a track record in a starting role, but he's slashed .293/.356/.439 with a home run, two RBI, 14 runs scored and 11 steals through 45 plate appearances this season as a speed-and-defense option.     Advice: Starter Matthew Liberatore labored through 3.1 innings, while Leahy was sharp and kept the Cardinals' deficit at four runs. The team's offense made a rare explosion with eight runs in the seventh inning, and they held the lead the rest of the way to get Leahy his first big-league win. The right-hander has a 5.59 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 7:3 K:BB over 9.2 innings through five appearances as a long reliever this season.     Advice: Rocchio looked decent at the plate in early May, but he went 0-for-11 across three games versus the White Sox over the weekend. The shortstop has at least shown good speed with seven steals on nine attempts this season. He's added a middling .212/.296/.280 slash line with seven RBI, 18 runs scored and eight doubles through 136 plate appearances. Rocchio continues to hold down a starting role and even got a look at leadoff versus a lefty (Garrett Crochet) Friday as the Guardians look for a solution at the top of the order with Steven Kwan (hamstring) sidelined.     Gaddis (2-1) struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the win Monday over the Rangers.

    Advice: It took the Guardians' offense until the eighth inning to get on the board, but they took full control after that. Gaddis took three straight blown saves to close out April, but he's rebounded with 5.2 scoreless innings to begin May. The right-hander has added eight holds, a 2.18 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 19:4 K:BB through 20.2 innings this season as a key part of the bridge to closer Emmanuel Clase.     Advice: France provided a pair of insurance runs with his two-run, eighth-inning blast that doubled Seattle's lead from two to four. France's offensive numbers are down across the board this season, with a significant contributing factor being a 24.3 percent strikeout rate that is on pace for his worst mark since his 2019 rookie campaign.
