• Alek Thomas gets injection for ailing hamstring
Alek Thomas received a PRP injection to treat inflammation in his hamstring.

Advice: Thomas was nearing a return to the Diamondbacks lineup when he suffered a setback on his rehab assignment last week. At this point, it’d be surprising to see him back within the next two weeks. He played in just four games last month before getting hurt. Rotoworld Today, 3:38 pm

  • Receives injection for hamstring
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Monday that Thomas received a platelet-rich plasma injection for his left hamstring, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Thomas was expected to return from the 10-day injured list week after making three minor-league rehab appearances, but he suffered a setback in his recovery from the strained left hamstring and was sent in for an MRI. After receiving multiple medical opinions on the MRI, Thomas was recommended for the PRP injection to address the swelling in the lower part of his hamstring. He'll likely rest for the next several days while he waits for the shot to take full effect before he resumes baseball activities. Rotowire.com Today, 3:37 pm

  • Heads to bench amid slump
Perkins is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Perkins will head to the bench after he went 0-for-10 with four strikeouts while starting each of the final three games of the Brewers' weekend series with the Cardinals in center field. The 27-year-old is slashing just .111/.179/.222 through 10 games in May, and his ongoing struggles at the dish may start to cost him some playing time. Jackson Chourio will move back into a starting role in the outfield Monday at Perkins' expense. Rotowire.com Today, 3:22 pm

  • On track to return this weekend
Gallo (shoulder) is on track to be activated from the injured list for the weekend series in Philadelphia, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Gallo will play first base on back-to-back days with Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday and Wednesday and that's expected to be the final hurdle he needs to clear on his rehab assignment. While the Nationals are expected to have Gallo available later this week, it's uncertain how much he will play once activated. Rotowire.com Today, 3:16 pm

  • Lands on IL with fractured thumb
The Reds placed Friedl on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a fractured left thumb.

Advice: Friedl left Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Giants after being hit by a pitch in the top of the first inning. The injury was initially reported as a contusion, but further tests revealed fractures in his left thumb. Friedl started the season on the IL with a fractured right wrist, and he appeared in just six major-league games after being activated May 7. Stuart Fairchild and Jake Fraley will see more playing time while Friedl remains sidelined. The Reds recalled outfielder Jacob Hurtubise from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. • Reds place Friedl on I.L. with thumb fracture
Reds placed OF TJ Friedl on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured left thumb.

Advice: The report yesterday was that X-rays were negative on Friedl’s thumb after he was hit by a pitch, but it seems that wasn’t the case. Friedl was injured in his sixth game since returning from a sprained wrist. The Reds figure to go back to Will Benson in center, but they might want to give the newly recalled Jacob Hurtubise a shot. • Benched against lefty
Kelenic is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Kelenic will retreat to the bench for the series opener versus the Cubs with ace lefty Shota Imanaga taking the bump for Chicago. The right-handed-hitting Adam Duvall will fill in for Kelenic in left field. Rotowire.com Today, 3:02 pm

  • Rehab games could come this week
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Monday that Robert (hip) could begin playing in games with the team's rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate later this week, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Advice: The White Sox are aiming for Robert to be able to run at 90 percent effort in the coming days. If that happens, Robert is expected to be cleared for Complex League games. The 26-year-old presumably would eventually move up to a higher-level affiliate to continue his rehab. Robert has been out since early April with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain but should return from the 10-day injured list before the end of the month if all goes well. Rotowire.com Today, 2:47 pm
