• Andrew Abbott strikes out eight in loss to O’s
Andrew Abbott surrendered two runs over five innings on Saturday in a loss to the Orioles.

Advice: Abbott managed to hold Baltimore’s solid lineup to just a pair of solo homers, but it wasn’t enough as his Orioles counterpart John Means reeled off seven shutout frames to saddle him with a loss. He finished with a season-high eight strikeouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. He’ll bring a solid 3.32 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 35/11 K/BB ratio across 38 innings (seven starts) into a road matchup on Friday against the Giants. Rotoworld Today, 8:34 pm

  • Corbin Carroll singles in loss to Padres
Corbin Carroll went 1-for-4 with a single as the Diamondbacks were demolished by the Padres on Saturday night in San Diego.

Advice: Hitting out of the eighth spot in the Diamondbacks’ lineup, the 23-year-old outfielder singled with two outs in the fifth inning but was left stranded at first base. He struck out in each of his other two plate appearances in the ballgame. It’s been a brutal start to the season for Carroll, as he’s hitting a paltry .194/.291/.242 with one home run, five RBI and eight stolen bases through his first 32 ballgames. Rotoworld Today, 8:07 pm
  • Strikes out eight in loss
Abbott (1-4) took the loss to the Orioles on Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits over five innings. He struck out eight without issuing a walk.

Advice: He retired eight straight batters at one point while showing great depth with his breaking pitches, but Jorge Mateo and Adley Rutschman touched him up for solo shots in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, and that was enough to send Abbott to his fourth loss in five decisions. The lefty has now allowed multiple homers in three of his last four outings, but he still has a highly respectable 3.32 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 38 innings this season. If Abbott can get the homer issue under control, he could take off, though that will be easier said than done as the weather heats up. Rotowire.com Today, 7:42 pm

  • Garcia (lower back) could be available Saturday
Yimi Garcia (back) will throw before Saturday’s game to determine his availability.

Advice: Garcia has been unavailable while dealing with a lower back injury. The right-hander will throw before the game, and the Blue Jays will make a determination as to whether he’s available for the contest or not. Garcia has been outstanding in 2024 with a 0.68 ERA and 16/3 K/BB over 13 1/3 innings over 13 appearances. Rotoworld Today, 11:36 am

  • Hit with no-decision
Stroman came away with a no-decision Friday against the Tigers after giving up one earned run on three hits and five walks while striking out three batters across 5.1 innings.

Advice: Despite the Tigers' ability to reach base regularly against Stroman, a bases-loaded walk from Colt Keith in the sixth inning was the only way Detroit was able to break through on the scoreboard against him. A quiet night from New York's offense also put Stroman at risk of taking his second loss of the season, but a two-run ninth inning allowed the Yankees to steal the victory from Detroit while handing the right-hander a no-decision. Stroman, who has now allowed 10 walks over his past two outings, is tentatively scheduled to start again Thursday against Houston. Rotowire.com Today, 7:35 am
  • Homers among three hits
Tatis went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Friday's victory over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Tatis opened the game's scoring in the fourth inning with a two-run home run off Slade Cecconi. The Padres right fielder added an additional RBI the next inning with a single. His performance Friday night was a welcome sight as Tatis hadn't homered since April 19, hitting .130 (6-for-46) since then. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:11 pm
  • Perfect day at dish
Contreras went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a walk in Friday's win over the White Sox.

Advice: Contreras scored runs in the first and fifth innings, both coming via Nolan Arenado doubles. Since his last multi-hit game April 17, Contreras had been stuck in a 9-for-43 (.209) slump over 12 games. Despite the streakiness, he still owns a strong .281/.395/.531 slash line through 114 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:52 pm
  • Fernando Tatis Jr. homers, drives in three in win
Fernando Tatis Jr. went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBI in a 7-1 win Friday over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The Padres were able to hit three homers Friday in the easy win, and Tatis Jr. swatted the first of those roundtrippers with a two-run shot in the fourth. The 25-year-old star also singled home a run in the fifth, and he’s up to seven homers and 20 RBI over the first month-plus. It’s nice to see Tatis Jr. remind early just how impressive of a talent he is. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:25 pm
  • Yields three runs
Blanco allowed three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out six during a win over Seattle.

Advice: All the damage against Blanco came via the long ball, with Jorge Polanco going deep in the third inning followed by Dylan Moore in the fifth. Entering Friday's start, Blanco had given up just two homers through 32.2 frames. It was the first time this season he's allowed more than two runs in an outing but he still produced his fifth quality start. Blanco owns a terrific 2.09 ERA with a 36:16 K:BB. His next start is lined up to come on the road against the Yankees. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:14 pm
