  • Ryne Stanek works around double for save
    Ryne Stanek allowed one hit and no runs while picking up a save Friday against the Rangers.

    Advice: Andres Munoz worked the eighth inning, so the Mariners turned to Stanek for the save chance. He did allow a double to Wyatt Langford, but he was able to work around it while procuring his sixth save of 2024.   • Luis Castillo holds Rangers to two runs over six
    Luis Castillo struck out seven after six innings of two-run baseball against the Rangers on Friday while picking up a win.

    Advice: Castillo scuffled in the first inning, allowing a pair of RBI singles. After that, the right-hander was excellent while keeping the Rangers off the board over the next five frames. The six strong innings see him lower his ERA on the campaign to 3.32 with a 92/24 K/BB. Castillo’s next chance to pitch is scheduled for Thursday against the Guardians in Cleveland.   • Andrew Heaney surrenders three against Mariners
    Andrew Heaney gave up three runs while working 4 2/3 innings against the Mariners on Friday.

    Advice: Heaney was handed a 2-0 cushion in the first, but it didn’t last long as he gave up a two-run blast to Mitch Garver. The southpaw gave up six hits and three walks, and he struck out four in a mediocre at best effort. The 33-year-old has had a few of those in 2024, and he’s now the owner of a 4.19 ERA over 66 2/3 innings. Heaney is scheduled to face the Mets next. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:38 pm
     
  • Cole Ragans holds Dodgers to three over seven
    Cole Ragans picked up no-decision after allowing three runs in seven innings of work against the Dodgers on Friday.

    Advice: Ragans struck out four and walked one. He scattered six hits allowed, but two of those were homers from Miguel Rojas and Chris Taylor. Even with the roundtrippers it’s another quality outing from the 26-year-old, albeit one that doesn’t come with many strikeouts nor a win.   • Escapes with save
    Diaz allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk Friday while earning a save over Milwaukee.

    Advice: Diaz was tasked with holding the 6-3 lead in the ninth inning Friday and ran into some trouble. He walked in a run after an error loaded the bases and allowed what would've been the game-tying hit if not for Will Benson throwing out Jake Bauers at home. Diaz has converted eight straight saves and 15 of his 17 chances this season. Despite his relative success in those situations, his ERA is up to 5.47 with a lackluster 27:19 K:BB through 26.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:14 pm
     
  • Picks up fifth win
    Greene (5-2) allowed two runs on three hits and five walks over five innings Friday, striking out five and earning a win over the Brewers.

    Advice: Greene coughed up a solo homer to William Contreras in the third before Milwaukee scratched across another run in the fifth. Greene generated 14 swinging strikes but struggled with his command, matching his season high with five walks. He needed 105 pitches to complete five frames.     Ortiz (3-2) picked up the win Friday against the Rockies, yielding one run on seven hits and no walks over five innings. He struck out three.

    Advice: After Carmen Mlodzinski tossed a scoreless opening frame, Ortiz entered in the second for a scheduled bullpen day. The Pittsburgh righty held his own at Coors Field in his longest outing of the season, firing 69 pitches en route to his first win since May 5, which also came against Colorado.   • Suffers sixth loss
    Feltner (2-6) took the loss Friday against the Pirates, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out eight.

    Advice: Despite generating 13 whiffs to produce eight punchouts, Feltner struggled with the long ball, yielding a season-worst three homers. All three roundtrippers were titanic blasts, as each traveled farther than 430 feet in the thin Colorado air. Feltner has been especially shaky since May 1, going 0-4 with a 6.17 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over 42.1 innings in eight starts.     Peralta (4-4) yielded six runs on 10 hits and a walk over 5.1 innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Reds.

    Advice: Peralta gave up two home runs in the loss, including a two-run shot by Jeimer Candelario in the fifth inning. He forced 16 whiffs Friday, marking the 12th time he's reached double digits this season. Peralta has posted a 7.90 ERA through three starts this month, bumping his season ERA up to 4.38 through 76 innings. He's now 1-4 since the start of May.
