Looking for offense, Royals call up CJ Alexander
Royals selected the contract of CJ Alexander from Triple-A Omaha.
Advice: The 27-year-old Alexander, along with Drew Waters and Andrew Hoffman, was one of three players the Royals got from the Braves for the 35th overall pick in the 2022 draft. He’s typically struggled to hit for average in the minors, but he’s broken through there this year, batting .323/.369/.555 in 56 games. We’re skeptical that it’s going to translate to the majors, but the Royals are getting increasingly desperate for offense at this point. Alexander will probably see time as a DH against righties, and he could give Maikel Garcia the occasional day off at third.
