• Resting Thursday
Perdomo isn't in the Diamondbacks' lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels.

Advice: Perdomo has gone 3-for-7 with an RBI and a run scored in two games since returning from the injured list. He'll get a breather against Griffin Canning and the Angels while Kevin Newman starts at shortstop, batting ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 1:35 pm

  • Taylor Walls excluded from Thursday’s lineup
Taylor Walls is taking a seat against a left-hander Thursday against the Cubs.

Advice: Walls has actually hit lefties better than righties in his career, though he’s still awfully weak against both. Walls had started five of six games since coming off the injured list. The Rays went 1-4 in those games, with the lone win coming Tuesday after Walls was replaced in the seventh and the team rallied for all five of its runs. The Rays have scored a total of eight runs in the 42 innings in which Walls has played. Rotoworld Today, 12:58 pm

  • Getting day off
Schuemann is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Minnesota.

Advice: Schuemann wore the golden sombrero in Wednesday's loss to the Padres, so he will be given the day off Thursday to regroup. Aledmys Diaz will draw the start at shortstop. Rotowire.com Today, 12:54 pm

  • Abraham Toro remains leadoff man despite slump
The slumping Abraham Toro is again in the leadoff spot for the A’s for Thursday’s game against the Twins.

Advice: That’s hardly a surprise, considering that Toro has led off every game for the A’s since May 5. Still, he’s not exactly succeeding in the spot, having posted a .281 OBP in 46 games there. He’s hit .202/.228/.270 in his last 20 games. Rotoworld Today, 12:49 pm

  • Dylan Moore back from paternity list
Mariners reinstated INF/OF Dylan Moore from the paternity list.

Advice: Moore was gone for three days. He’ll resume playing pretty regularly between second, third and left, giving him some value in deeper mixed leagues. Rotoworld Today, 11:12 am

  • Returns from paternity leave
The Mariners reinstated Moore (personal) from the paternity list Thursday.

Advice: Moore has been away from the team since Monday to spend time with his family, and he will now return to the Mariners ahead of Thursday's series finale against the White Sox. The 31-year-old has slashed .160/.233/.200 with two RBI and five runs scored since the beginning of June. Rotowire.com Today, 11:00 am

  • On verge of rehab assignment
Polanco (hamstring) is slated to run the bases before Thursday's game against the White Sox and then head out on a rehab assignment, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Advice: Polanco has been progressively ramping up his level of activity in recent days, apparently without any setbacks. MLB.com reports that general manager Justin Hollander indicated team trainers would jointly assess Polanco's condition with the veteran infielder following Thursday's activity, at which point the length of the rehab assignment would likely be determined. • Twins bring up Austin Martin from Triple-A
Twins recalled INF/OF Austin Martin from Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: He replaces Alex Kirilloff. Martin earned another look by hitting .290/.466/.387 with a 7/21 K/BB ratio in 88 plate appearances in Triple-A. Manuel Margot has gotten hot this month, so we’ll have to see just how much playing time Martin gets in the Twins’ outfield rotation. He’s also an option at second base, but he’s a weaker one than Willi Castro. During his earlier stints with the Twins, all 23 of his starts came in left or center. Rotoworld Today, 10:26 am

  • Back with big club
The Twins recalled Martin from Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Advice: He's switching spots with Alex Kirilloff, who has been optioned to St. Paul. Martin has slashed just .224/.289/.355 across 30 games at the big-league level this season. He could see some action versus lefties, but the 25-year-old's playing time is unlikely to be steady. Rotowire.com Today, 10:19 am
