    • Back from injured list
The Mets reinstated Diaz (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.

Advice: Diaz has been on the injured list since late May due to a right shoulder impingement. He fired two shutout innings with High-A Brooklyn during a rehab assignment, and manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that the Mets will make Diaz their lone closer once again after the team had used a committee approach during the early portion of the season. The 30-year-old righty currently owns a 5.40 ERA and 1.25 WHIP alongside a 30:7 K:BB through 20 innings on the year and has converted five of his nine save opportunities. • Edwin Díaz returns from IL as Mets’ closer
Mets activated RHP Edwin Díaz from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Díaz is slated to resume closing immediately for the Mets, though the Mets won’t want him to go long without pitching if they don’t generate a save chance these next two days. Díaz missed the minimum 15 days with a shoulder impingement. Rotoworld Today, 11:48 am

    • Dylan Moore back from paternity list
Mariners reinstated INF/OF Dylan Moore from the paternity list.

Advice: Moore was gone for three days. He’ll resume playing pretty regularly between second, third and left, giving him some value in deeper mixed leagues. Rotoworld Today, 11:12 am

    • Returns from paternity leave
The Mariners reinstated Moore (personal) from the paternity list Thursday.

Advice: Moore has been away from the team since Monday to spend time with his family, and he will now return to the Mariners ahead of Thursday's series finale against the White Sox. The 31-year-old has slashed .160/.233/.200 with two RBI and five runs scored since the beginning of June. Rotowire.com Today, 11:00 am

    • Getting day off
Gonzales is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in St. Louis.

Advice: Gonzales looks to be getting a routine maintenance day after he had started in every game for the Pirates dating back to May 13. The second-year infielder recorded a double in both of the first two games of the series, giving him 12 extra-base hits through 119 plate appearances on the season. Jared Triolo will get the nod at second base Thursday while Gonzales rests. Rotowire.com Today, 8:36 am

    • Kerry Carpenter says back is improving with rest
Kerry Carpenter, who has been resting for two weeks after being diagnosed with a lumbar spine fracture, said his back is starting to feel better.

Advice: The Tigers haven’t provided any timetable for Carpenter’s return, but Carpenter said he was told he’d need three and a half to four weeks of total rest before resuming baseball activities. He’s a bit more than halfway there now. Rotoworld Today, 7:54 am

    • Fans 12 in no-decision
King came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the A's, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks over five-plus innings. He struck out 12.

Advice: The right-hander set a season high in Ks and took a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning, but after allowing back-to-back singles to begin the frame, King left the mound and watched as Wandy Peralta let both inherited runners cross the plate. King hasn't been tagged for more than three runs in any of his last five starts, posting a 2.20 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 34:8 K:BB in 28.2 innings over that stretch. He'll face a much tougher test in his next outing, on the road early next week in Philadelphia. Rotowire.com Today, 6:26 am

    • Gathers hit, RBI in win
O'Neill went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Phillies.

Advice: O'Neill returned from a knee injury and served as Boston's designated hitter. He tried to stretch a single into a double in the first inning but was thrown out, which suggests O'Neill's knee is feeling better. He later plated a run on a sacrifice fly during the Red Sox's five-run fifth inning, which helped wipe out Philadelphia's early 4-0 lead. Rotowire.com Today, 5:54 am

    • Tallies three hits Wednesday
Arenado went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI in a 4-2 win against the Pirates on Wednesday.

Advice: Among Arenado's three hits was a third-inning RBI double that was St. Louis' only extra-base hit of the contest. The veteran third baseman batted .167 over his first seven contests in June but has perked up since, putting together a four-game hitting streak during which he has gone 8-for-16. The hot stretch has improved his season slash line to .264/.320/.386. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:00 pm
