    • Heading back to bench Wednesday
Ortiz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Advice: After sitting in four straight games to close out this past weekend, Ortiz picked up starts at second base and third base in the Brewers' first two contests in Kansas City, going 1-for-5 with a solo home run and a walk between those games. The 25-year-old still looks to be the Brewers' preferred option at the hot corner, though he'll give way to Oliver Dunn on Wednesday. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago

    • Exits 40-man roster
Speas was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Wednesday.

Advice: He's yielding his spot on the 40-man roster to Easton Lucas. Speas was acquired via trade from the White Sox last month and has held an ugly 12.08 ERA over 11 relief appearances this season with Las Vegas. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago

    • Takes loss Tuesday
Avila (0-1) allowed a run on three hits and two walks while striking out four over three innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Tigers.

Advice: Guardians starter Logan Allen was pulled in the third inning after allowing a tying run that knotted the game at 7-7. Avila was better in a longer relief appearance, but he was tagged with the loss due to a lack of offense from Cleveland after that point. Avila has pitched to a 6.11 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB over 17.2 innings across eight appearances between Cleveland and San Diego this season. His ERA is 3.72 across four outings with the Guardians, but it's still possible Avila loses his place on the 26-man roster once Eli Morgan (shoulder) completes a rehab assignment. • Returns to Triple-A
The Brewers optioned Black to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.

Advice: After being called up from Nashville last Tuesday, Black got a look in a near-everyday role, starting in five of the Brewers' ensuing seven games. However, the 23-year-old managed just five hits while striking out eight times in 22 at-bats in his first taste of the big leagues, prompting the Brewers to pull the plug on him with Christian Yelich (back) returning from the 10-day injured list Wednesday. Black should continue to see regular playing time at Nashville and will likely be one of the top options for a call-up if the Brewers need an extra corner infielder at any point. • Sent down to minors
The Athletics optioned Harris to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Advice: Harris was up with the big club for only a couple days, allowing four runs over 5.1 innings in an extended relief appearance Tuesday versus the Rangers. He should slide back into Las Vegas' rotation. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago

    • Lands on injured list
The Athletics placed Hernaiz on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left ankle injury.

Advice: Hernaiz suffered the injury during Tuesday's contest versus the Rangers when he stepped awkwardly on first base while trying to beat out an infield hit. It's not clear at this point how long he might be sidelined. Max Schuemann and Brett Harris could handle shortstop for the A's while Hernaiz is out. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

    • Brewers option Tyler Black to Triple-A
Brewers optioned INF Tyler Black to Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: This is a bit of a surprise. The Brewers needed to make a roster move for Christian Yelich and the team decided to send down Black. The 23-year-old had three hits in his first two games with the Brewers, but had just two hits in his past five games. He’ll head back down to Triple-A, but there’s a good chance he gets another opportunity with Milwaukee this season. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago

    • Recalled from Triple-A
The Athletics recalled Bido from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Advice: Bido will start the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Rangers. The right-hander boasts a 2.59 ERA and 39:13 K:BB across 31.1 innings with Las Vegas this season. With Joe Boyle (back) sidelined, Bido could stick around for a while. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago

    • Joins major-league roster
The Athletics recalled Soderstrom from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Advice: Soderstrom has slashed .245/.353/.529 with seven home runs over 27 games at Las Vegas this season. The 22-year-old managed just a .472 OPS and 31.2 percent strikeout rate with the A's last season. Soderstrom will give Oakland a third catcher and could also see some action at first base and/or designated hitter. Rotowire.com 26 minutes ago
