    • Running before rehab assignment
Lewis (quad) did some light running on the field Tuesday and the Twins are ramping up his baserunning, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Per Park, Twins' head athletic trainer Nick Paparesta described the ramp-up as a big week of recovery for Lewis. The 24-year-old will do more aggressive change-of-direction stuff later this week that will give more insight to the timeline for his rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Today, 2:26 pm

    • George Springer (illness) out again on Tuesday
George Springer (illness) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Orioles.

Advice: Springer is sitting out for the second straight contest and fourth time in the last five contests due to an ongoing viral illness. It’ll be on-base machine Davis Schneider, who also boasts the fifth-best barrel percentage in baseball this season, taking over the leadoff spot in his continued absence. Rotoworld Today, 2:18 pm

    • Sitting again Tuesday
Springer (illness) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game at Baltimore.

Advice: Springer returned to action Sunday after missing two games with an illness, and he's out of the lineup again Tuesday for the second straight day. It's unclear if he's expected to be back in action for Wednesday's series finale. Cavan Biggio is starting in right field versus the Orioles. Rotowire.com Today, 2:15 pm

    • Royce Lewis (quad) ramping up activity
Royce Lewis (quad) progressed to on-field running on Tuesday at Target Field.

Advice: Lewis has plateaued a bit in his rehabilitation process, so it’s an encouraging sign that he’s expected to ramp-up his baserunning this week. The 24-year-old third baseman’s return timetable should come into cleared focus at some point later this week. He’s been out since Opening Day recovering from a severe right quad strain. • Idle for first game
DeJong is out of the lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Nationals on Tuesday.

Advice: The 30-year-old will give way to Braden Shewmake at shortstop. DeJong will likely re-enter the lineup for the nightcap with a southpaw (Mitchell Parker) set to start for the Nationals. Rotowire.com Today, 11:21 am

    • Paul DeJong sitting for first game of doubleheader
Paul DeJong is not in the starting lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Nationals on Tuesday.

Advice: DeJong has swung the bat well thus far in May with a .955 OPS and three homers. He’ll get the first game off before likely returning to the lineup for the second contest of the twin billing. Braden Shewmake is playing shortstop in his absence. Rotoworld Today, 11:19 am

    • Dominguez (elbow) beginning rehab assignment
Jasson Dominguez (elbow) is beginning his rehab assignment with Low-A Tampa on Tuesday.

Advice: Dominguez will begin facing competition as he works his way back from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in September. The 21-year-old will likely need to spend a couple of weeks — at least — playing minor-league games before having a chance to return to the New York lineup near the start of June. Dominguez is extremely talented, but he’s a very risky option for the 2024 season. Rotoworld Today, 8:06 am

    • Blows save Monday
Diaz (1-2) allowed two runs on a hit, a hit batsman and two walks without striking out a batter in one-third of an inning to take the loss and a blown save Monday versus the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Diaz loaded the bases with back-to-back one-out walks, and Kevin Newman delivered the walk-off two-run single. This was Diaz's first blown save since his season debut, but he's hardly been dominant lately, allowing seven runs with a 5:6 K:BB over his last 3.2 innings. The closer has a 6.75 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 16:12 K:BB while converting seven of nine save chances through 14.2 innings on the year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:41 pm
    • Falls to Mariners
Singer (3-2) took the loss against Seattle on Monday, allowing four runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out six batters over five innings.

Advice: Singer came into Monday having allowed exactly one run in three straight starts, but he couldn't keep that momentum going. The right-hander yielded four runs across the second and third frames, marking just the second time this season he's given up that many runs over an entire game. Singer still has a strong 2.84 ERA and 1.11 WHIP through nine starts on the campaign, and he's tossed at least five frames in each of his outings thus far. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:28 pm
