    • Return this weekend not ruled out
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Monday that it's "possible" Rodriguez (shoulder) rejoins the rotation this weekend against the Mariners, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Rodriguez got through a 30-pitch bullpen session Sunday with no issues and felt fine the day after. The next step for the right-hander has not yet been determined, however, and it's possible a return next week is more likely. Rodriguez has been out since the beginning of May with right shoulder inflammation. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago

    • Runs bases Sunday
LeMahieu (foot) ran the bases Sunday and will take live batting practice again Tuesday, Mark Didtler of the Associated Press reports.

Advice: Running the bases is a significant step in LeMahieu's recovery from a non-displaced fracture of his right foot. The veteran infielder has also been taking batting practice and fielding ground balls, and he could restart a minor-league rehab assignment soon. LeMahieu had begun a rehab stint April 23 but had to be pulled after just one inning due to experiencing soreness in the injured foot. Rotowire.com Today, 11:27 am

    • Exits with back spasms
Winker left Sunday's loss to the Red Sox in the sixth inning due to back spasms, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: The 30-year-old tried to play through the issue, but Winker's back flared up after he made a diving attempt to catch a sinking liner in the bottom of the fifth inning. Trey Lipscomb pinch hit for him in the sixth, with Ildemaro Vargas shifting from third base to left field defensively. Winker is slashing .235/.350/.386 through 38 games on the season with four homers, 18 RBI, 19 runs and a career-high four steals, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he got a day off Monday when the Nationals head to Chicago to face the White Sox and right-hander Chris Flexen. • Records ninth steal
Garcia went 1-for-5 with a stolen base in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Angels.

Advice: Garcia has hit safely in eight of 11 games in May, going 12-for-47 (.255) with four doubles, four RBI and five runs scored. His steal Sunday was his first of the month and his ninth of the season, and he's yet to be caught stealing. The third baseman is slashing .238/.290/.375 with four home runs, 24 RBI and 20 runs scored over 184 plate appearances. While Garcia hasn't profiled as an ideal leadoff hitter, he's done enough to keep that spot through the first quarter of the campaign in a fairly strong lineup. • Launches first homer of 2024
Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 9-3 loss to the Astros.

Advice: Torkelson finally broke through for his first home run of the 2024 season, launching a two-run shot off of Houston reliever Seth Martinez with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. After producing 31 home runs over 159 games in 2023, it took the first baseman 38 contests to go deep in 2024. Torkelson is now batting .224 with a home run, 14 RBI and 15 runs scored over those 38 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:06 pm
    • Gets aboard three times
Rodgers went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Rodgers has hit safely in seven straight games, and four of those have been multi-hit performances. He's gone 11-for-27 (.407) in that span, but he's also logged just one extra-base hit, a double, during the streak. Rodgers had a mostly inconsistent start to the campaign, but he's up to a decent .268/.316/.354 slash line with one home run, eight RBI, 14 runs scored, six doubles and a triple through 36 contests. It's not a great line, but the second baseman could still find his power again with his home games at hitter-friendly Coors Field, though he's also sporting a 25.0 percent strikeout rate, his highest in four years. • Brendan Rodgers gets first career stolen base
Brendan Rodgers went 2-for-3 with a walk and his first career stolen base Sunday against the Rangers.

Advice: Rodgers actually went 12-for-15 stealing bases in Double-A in 2018. Since then, he’d gone 66 games in Triple-A and 352 in the majors without ever attempting even one. Rodgers must be feeling especially good, seeing that he’s batting .350 over his last 16 games. It’s just too bad he has the same number of homers as steals this year. • Turns in 30-pitch bullpen session
Rodriguez (shoulder) tossed a 30-pitch bullpen session Sunday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Rodriguez said that he felt good following the workout, but he acknowledged that he didn't know whether he would be cleared to face hitters the next time he throws, or if he would continue the ramp-up process with another bullpen session. After being placed on the 15-day injured list May 1 with shoulder inflammation, Rodriguez is eligible for activation Wednesday, but he looks like he'll need at least a little time beyond that before he's ready to rejoin the Baltimore rotation. • Corbin Carroll has two hits against Orioles
Corbin Carroll went 2-for-5 with a double in a 9-2 win over the Orioles on Sunday.

Advice: The effort put Carroll over the Mendoza Line on the season, as the 23-year-old is now hitting .201/.287/.266. Perhaps more encouraging, both of Carroll’s hits left the bat at over 100 mph. There are still real concerns about his ability to lift and drive the ball, and his home run projections all feel a bit high, but it’s nice to see him making authoritative contact.
