    • Slated for Tommy John surgery
Raley will undergo Tommy John surgery sometime next week, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: Raley was diagnosed with a strained UCL in his left elbow last Wednesday, and although manager Carlos Mendoza had said the lefty's UCL was healing, Raley will elect to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery. The 35-year-old will finish the year with a perfect 0.00 ERA alongside a 9:3 K:BB through seven innings, and he will likely be sidelined until the second half of the 2025 campaign. • Starting Wednesday at Triple-A
Thompson is scheduled to start for Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democratreports.

Advice: Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol named the left-hander as a candidate to start Saturday against the Cubs, but it appears he'll remain in the minor-league rotation. Thompson could still be an option for St. Louis if Wednesday's outing is a brief one, but the organization seems more likely to go in another direction at this point. • Throws bullpen session
Miller (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: Tuesday marks the first time Miller has thrown off a mound since landing on the injured list last Monday with right ulnar nerve inflammation. He will presumably throw a few more bullpens before progressing to facing live hitters, but there is still a chance the 33-year-old reliever returns to Detroit's bullpen when eligible next Tuesday. • Matt Manning starting Friday vs. Blue Jays
Matt Manning will start on Friday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: The Tigers are waiting until Kenta Maeda (illness) throws a bullpen session on Wednesday or Thursday before determining his next steps. It’s possible he’ll be ready to take the ball at some point this weekend, but for now it’ll be Manning drawing another start for Detroit. Rotoworld Today, 3:12 pm
    • Dustin May (elbow) throws first bullpen session
Dustin May (elbow) threw his first bullpen session on Tuesday since undergoing flexor tendon surgery last July.

Advice: May is aiming to return to Los Angeles at some point later this year as he works his way back from last year’s surgery, which also included a UCL revision on his right elbow. The 26-year-old righty was one of the most promising young pitchers in baseball a few years ago, but he’s been derailed by injuries. Rotoworld Today, 3:08 pm

    • Heading for second opinion
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Alzolay (forearm) will receive a second opinion on his flexor strain, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: The right-hander landed on the injured list with a flexor strain last week, and news of a second opinion isn't an encouraging development. Alzolay remains without a clear timeline for his return and should be considered out indefinitely as he continues to be evaluated. Rotowire.com Today, 3:00 pm

    • Making next rehab start Friday
Uquidy (forearm) will make a rehab start Friday with Triple-A Sugar Land, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The right-hander threw 59 pitches in his previous outing Saturday and is expected to build up to 70-to-75 pitches Friday. If all goes well, Urquidy could step into Houston's rotation during the four-game series in Seattle next week. Rotowire.com Today, 2:45 pm

    • Adbert Alzolay (forearm) heads for second opinion
Adbert Alzolay is getting a second opinion on his right forearm.

Advice: Not great. Alzolay hit the injured list earlier this month with a right forearm strain and the fact that he’s seeking multiple medical opinions seems to indicate that he could be facing an extended absence. There should be some clarity on his status later this week, but it’s looking unlikely that he’ll be back anytime soon. Rotoworld Today, 2:38 pm

    • Jordan Wicks (forearm) ready for rehab assignment
Jordan Wicks (forearm) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday.

Advice: Wicks has been out since late April due to a left forearm strain, but is expected to progress to a minor league rehab assignment later this week. There’s a chance he’s back at some point in early June. Rotoworld Today, 2:36 pm
