    • Blows first save
Doval gave up two unearned runs on two hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning Tuesday to blow his first save of the season in a 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Pirates. He struck out one.

Advice: The Giants rolled into the ninth inning with a 6-2 lead, but after Luke Jackson put two runners aboard with one out, Doval got the call and coaxed a potential double-play grounder from Andrew McCutchen, only for Marco Luciano to boot it and pave the way for a Pirates rally. Doval's control has taken a step backward this season, as he has a 15.7 percent walk rate compared to a 9.3 percent mark in 2023, but he still carries a 2.89 ERA to go with his 1.45 WHIP, 25:13 K:BB through 18.2 innings and eight saves. • Blanks Nats for third win
Ryan (3-3) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing three hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings in a 10-0 rout of the Nationals. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander didn't let a baserunner get past second base as he delivered his seventh quality start of the season in 10 trips to the mound. Tuesday's outing was also the first time in 2024 that Ryan had issued multiple free passes. He'll take a 3.15 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 64:9 K:BB through 60 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Royals. Rotowire.com 26 minutes ago
    • Punches out seven
Littell didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Boston, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk across 5.2 innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Littell fared better against the Red Sox the second time around, holding them to three hits Tuesday after yielding seven hits and four runs to Boston in his last start. Though the 28-year-old did surrender a solo homer to Jarren Duran, he tied his season high in strikeouts and fewer than two batters for the sixth time in his last seven starts. Littell hasn't gone deeper than six innings this season but owns a 3.42 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP across 10 appearances. He's scheduled for a home start against the Athletics next Tuesday. • Goes three innings in return
Musgrove (3-4) took the loss Tuesday against the Reds, allowing two unearned runs on three hits and two walks over three innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Musgrove appeared a bit rusty in his first start since May 1, ultimately needing 66 pitches to make it through three innings -- he'd allow a pair of unearned runs after an errant pickoff throw in the second. Overall, the 31-year-old Musgrove sports a 5.93 ERA with a 1.52 WHIP and 39:15 K:BB across nine starts (44 innings) this season. He'll look to go deeper in his next outing, currently scheduled for Sunday at home against the Yankees. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:56 pm
    • Joe Musgrove goes three innings in return from IL
Joe Musgrove allowed two runs (zero earned) on three hits in three innings in a loss to the Reds on Tuesday.

Advice: The Padres said this start was just about getting Musgrove on the mound against live hitters after missing time with a triceps injury. The veteran’s velocity was in line with his season-long numbers, which is good in his first start off the IL, and he posted an impressive 35 percent whiff rate and 27 percent CSW in his three innings. Overall, it was a solid first effort back but things just get tougher this weekend against the Yankees. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:51 pm
    • Zack Littell strikes out seven in loss to Red Sox
Zack Littell allowed two earned runs over 5 2/3 innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Littell was pulled with two outs in the sixth inning, which came after a solo homer by Jarren Durran. The veteran righty was solid for much of the afternoon, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out seven batters. Littell wasn’t in line for the win after leaving with the game tied but he will have a chance to earn his third win of the season in his next start on Tuesday against the Athletics. • Devers’ home run streak ends at six games
Rafael Devers went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Tuesday’s win over the Rays.

Advice: Devers’ home run streak officially ends at six games, but he did manage to push his hitting streak to 11 games in the 5-2 win over the Rays. Devers’ lone hit came in the second inning, as he later came around to score on a Vaughn Grissom single. Devers has totaled 13 hits in his last 44 at-bats and is batting .286 on the month. We’ll see if he can stay hot and get another home run streak going in his next outing. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:18 pm
    • Joe Ryan tosses seven scoreless to beat Nats
Joe Ryan struck out six over seven shutout innings on Tuesday in a win over the Nationals.

Advice: Ryan’s velocity was up across the board as his four-seam fastball had a little bit of extra life on it, which led to an impressive eight swinging strikes and a near-elite 39 percent CSW. He limited Washington’s lineup to just three hits and a pair of walks over seven stellar frames. The 27-year-old righty will bring a strong 3.15 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 64/9 K/BB ratio across 60 innings (10 starts) into a home outing on Monday against the division-rival Royals. • Slated to play in ACL games
Robert (hip) will begin playing in Arizona Complex League games on Wednesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Robert has been on the shelf since April 6 due to a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain, but he now appears to be ready to test his hip in a competitive environment. The plan is for him to remain at the White Sox's complex in Arizona through the weekend before officially beginning an assignment with one of Chicago's minor-league affiliates next week. The team has not revealed how long they expect the 26-year-old outfielder to remain on assignment, but it's likely he returns to the Sox sometime in June. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:45 pm
