    • Breaks home run drought
McGuire went 2-for-3 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Rays.

Advice: McGuire went yard in the ninth inning off of Erasmo Ramirez, marking the catchers' third homer of the season and his first since April 7. McGuire has been operating as the backup to Connor Wong in May, and he hasn't shown enough at the plate to warrant more playing time since, batting .214 with Tuesday's long ball being his only extra-base hit during the month. • Aaron Brooks delivers quality start versus Rockies
Aaron Brooks gave the A’s another quality start by allowing three runs in six innings Tuesday at home against the Rockies.

Advice: This is definitely pushing the boundaries of the quality start; not only did he do the bare minimum in allowing three runs in six innings, but he was doing so against the road-team version of the Rockies in a strong pitcher’s park in Oakland. Still, he gave the A’s a chance to win, and they did so by scoring three runs off the Rockies pen. Brooks should remain in the rotation and face the Astros next. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago

    • Cal Quantrill strikes out eight against A’s
Cal Quantrill yielded two runs in six innings and struck out eight against the A’s on Tuesday.

Advice: The Rockies ought to be shopping Quantrill now; it’s hard to imagine he’ll have more trade value at the deadline than he does currently with his 3.59 ERA and a 44/21 K/BB ratio in 57 2/3 innings. That 18.6% K rate is a huge improvement over last year’s mark of 13.1% with Cleveland. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago

    • Justin Lawrence takes blown save in seventh inning
Justin Lawrence took a blown save in the seventh after giving up a two-run homer to Oakland’s Seth Brown on Tuesday.

Advice: Jalen Beeks’ hold on the closer’s role in Colorado got a little stronger tonight. Lawrence, who has been dealing with an inflated ERA since giving up four earned runs in his second outing of the season, had been pitching well in amassing a 1.08 ERA this month. Still, he really needs to cut down on the walks; he’s issued 12 in 19 1/3 innings this season. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago
    • Falls short of quality start
Criswell didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Tampa Bay, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk across 5.1 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Both of the runs against Criswell came in the first inning, where he allowed Josh Lowe and Randy Arozarena to reach via hit to start the frame before Isaac Paredes plated them both with a single to left field. Despite not letting a runner reach scoring position after the first, Criswell's day came to an end early in the fifth when manager Alex Cora went to the bullpen in response to Yandy Diaz entering as a pinch hitter. With Garrett Whitlock (oblique) expected to undergo surgery, Criswell can be penciled into Boston's starting rotation for the foreseeable future. He's tentatively scheduled for a Monday start against the Orioles at Camden Yards. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago
    • Homers off bench Tuesday
Fry went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Mets.

Advice: Fry didn't start Tuesday, but he delivered a two-run home run when he pinch hit for Kyle Manzardo in the sixth inning. Over his last 11 games, Fry has gone 10-for-27 (.370) with four homers, nine RBI, 10 runs scored, two stolen bases and an 8:6 BB:K. The 28-year-old is taking advantage of every opportunity he gets despite lacking an everyday spot in the lineup. He's up to a .338/.476/.588 slash line with five homers, 18 RBI, 19 runs scored and three steals over 105 plate appearances this season. Fry has already surpassed his numbers from 113 plate appearances in 2023 in all of the major fantasy-relevant categories. Rotowire.com 45 minutes ago

    • Notches fourth win
Sandlin (4-0) walked one and struck out two without allowing a hit or a run over two-thirds of an inning to earn the win Tuesday over the Mets.

Advice: Starter Xzavion Curry went 4.1 innings, falling short of qualifying for the win. Sandlin stepped up to finish the fifth inning, working his way out of a bases-loaded jam. The right-hander has kept runs off the board in all but three of his 26 appearances, though he has given up multiple runs in each of those three missteps. He's still pitched to a rock-solid 2.35 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB with a save and three holds over 23 innings while filling a fireman role in the Guardians' bullpen. • Carlos Estévez takes loss in 10th versus Astros
Carlos Estévez dropped to 0-3 after allowing the automatic runner to score in the 10th against the Astros on Tuesday.

Advice: Estévez had no cushion after the Angels failed to score in the top of the inning, and he was stuck facing the heart of the Astros order with Kyle Tucker on second. The decision was made to walk Yordan Alvarez to start the inning. Estevez then retired Alex Bregman before giving up a game-winning hit to Jeremy Peña. We’re not at all impressed by the job that Estévez is going, but this one doesn’t reflect badly on him. Since both Estévez and Hunter Strickland were pitching for the second straight day tonight, Adam Cimber might be in line for a save chance Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 9:02 pm
    • Pair of hits, homer
France went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Yankees.

Advice: The first baseman clubbed his fifth homer of the campaign, taking Dennis Santana yard in the seventh frame. Across his last eight games, France is batting .276 with three home runs and hasn't struck out multiple times in a contest during that stretch. Rotowire.com Today, 8:58 pm
