    • Joey Ortiz walks three times in return to lineup
Joey Ortiz (hamstring) went 0-for-2 with an RBI and also walked three times on Friday in his return to the lineup.

Advice: Ortiz was back at third base and batting seventh on Friday night agains the Reds following a two-game absence due to right hamstring soreness. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern moving forward for the 25-year-old infielder, who is in the midst of a true breakout season in his Brewers debut. Rotoworld 56 minutes ago

    • Joey Loperfido posts three hits Friday at Triple-A
Joey Loperfido went 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBI on Friday for Triple-A Sugar Land.

Advice: Loperfido doesn’t have a ton of professional experience at first base, but there’s an opportunity for him to carve out a role there after Houston’s front office abruptly cut ties with veteran José Abreu on Friday afternoon. The 25-year-old slugger has some contact issues that could limit his upside for fantasy managers, but he’s definitely going to hit for power with an everyday opportunity. It feels like it’s time for the Astros to see what they have since he has almost nothing left to prove at Triple-A. Rotoworld Today, 3:55 am

    • Brett Baty raises average to .519 at Triple-A
Brett Baty went 3-for-3 with an RBI on Friday for Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Baty has torn the cover off the ball since a late-May demotion to the minors, batting an absurd .519 (14-for-27) with three homers and 10 RBI in six games for Triple-A Syracuse. The 24-year-old former top prospect seems to be re-gaining some much-needed confidence at the dish and appears to be also adding some defensive versatility to his toolkit by spending some time at second base recently. It’s unclear when Baty will get another shot in New York, but he’s showed some encouraging signs over the last few weeks away from the spotlight in the upper minors. Rotoworld Today, 3:37 am

    • Rips three extra-base hits
Moniak went 3-for-5 with a triple, two doubles, two RBI and one run scored in Friday's 8-6 win over the Giants.

Advice: Moniak supplied a two-run double in the third inning. He's hit safely in his last six games, going 8-for-19 (.421) with five RBI, four walks and two stolen bases in that span. Kevin Pillar has been excellent since joining the Angels in May, but he'd been platooning with Moniak until recently. With Taylor Ward slumping, there's room for Pillar in left field and Moniak in center, though the latter will have to keep hitting to maintain his consistent playing time. Moniak is slashing .192/.241/.282 with two home runs, six doubles, one triple, 14 RBI, 15 runs scored and four steals over 166 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:07 pm
    • Goes deep in win
Neto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 8-6 win over the Giants.

Advice: The shortstop has three homers and 10 RBI over 12 contests in June, going 10-for-43 (.233) this month. Neto may not be making consistent contact, but the increased power is a positive nonetheless. He's maintained a .250/.298/.435 slash line with nine homers, 28 RBI, 26 runs scored, eight stolen base and 16 doubles through 67 contests this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:03 pm
    • Smashes homer in win
Garver went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and two walks in Friday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Garver is up to eight homers this season, and he's hit three of them over his last eight games. In that stretch, he's batting .250 (6-for-24) with eight RBI and two doubles. It's encouraging to see more power out of the 33-year-old -- he went 18 games without a homer between May 13 and June 5. Garver is slashing a poor .176/.300/.352 across 230 plate appearances this season, though he's added 25 RBI, 23 runs scored and 10 doubles while seeing fairly steady playing time at designated hitter. • Jackson Chourios knocks in two against Reds
Jackson Chourio singled twice and knocked in two runs against the Reds on Friday.

Advice: Chourio would surely be back in the minors at this point if he hadn’t signed a long-term deal this spring, but it’s not like he’s embarrassing himself with a .229/.280/.365 line as a 20-year-old in a season in which offense has been hard to come by. His long-term outlook hasn’t diminished at all, even if he still doesn’t seem like a very good bet in mixed leagues over the rest of 2024. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:24 pm
    • Mickey Moniak triples, doubles twice in victory
Mickey Moniak tripled and doubled twice while driving in a pair of runs in an 8-6 win over the Giants on Friday.

Advice: Both RBI came on one of those extra-base hits, as he gave the Halos a 4-0 lead with a two-run double. The first pick of the 2016 draft is still slashing an ugly .192/.241/.282, but he does have a six-game hitting streak. It’s possible this is the beginning of turning things around, but nothing Moniak has done over his career suggests that’s a reasonable ask. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:17 pm
    • Jack Suwinski homers and walks in victory
Jack Suwinski hit a two-run homer in a victory over the Rockies on Friday.

Advice: Suwinski also drew a walk. The 25-year-old showed some fantasy promise at times in 2024, and while there’s still 90-plus games to go for the Pirates and the outfielder, he has not lived up to that promise this season with a .173/.270/.315 slash. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:11 pm
