    • Hit hard in no-decision
Verlander did not factor into the decision in Monday's 2-1 win over the Cardinals, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts over five innings.

Advice: Verlander got into immediate trouble, allowing solo home runs to Alec Burleson and Nolan Gorman in the first inning. He labored through the next four, surrendering a total of eight hard-hit balls, including another homer by Gorman, and leaving with a 4-2 deficit. Verlander was coming off back-to-back nine-strikeout efforts, but he has now failed to reach six innings in four of his nine starts this season. In those nine games, Verlander has posted a 3.63 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 48:17 K:BB. He tentatively lines up for a road matchup against the Angels on Sunday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:57 pm
    • Verlander allows four runs in no-decision Monday
Justin Verlander allowed four runs in five innings and got a no-decision in the Astros’ 7-4 victory over the Cardinals on Monday.

Advice: Verlander gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out four. He allowed three home runs and has now allowed 11 home runs in 52 innings (1.90 HR/9) this season. That’s a significant uptick from the 18 home runs he allowed in 162 innings (1.00 HR/9) last year. Also troubling is Verlander’s 23 percent ground ball percentage, which would be a career-low. While his ERA is 3.63 on the season, his xFIP is over full run higher at 4.70. Verlander has benefitted from an 86 percent left on base percentage, which has helped drive his ERA down but is unlikely to last all year. The 41-year-old right-hander is set to face the Angels on the road this weekend.

    • CJ Abrams dealing with shoulder soreness on swings
CJ Abrams, out of the lineup for a third straight game Monday, said his shoulder is still bothering him when he swings but that it’s improving each day.

Advice: Abrams hurt the shoulder Friday, but it sounded like he would have played over the weekend if not for an illness he was also dealing with. That illness no longer seems to be a factor, but the shoulder remains a problem, keeping him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:41 pm

    • Hamstring strain 'very mild'
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that Marsh, who was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday is dealing with a "very mild" right hamstring strain, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Marsh strained the hamstring late in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals. While the Phillies aren't putting an official timeline on Marsh's return from the IL, he appears to have a shot to make it back when he's first eligible June 13, or close to it. David Dahl was called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move and will start in left field in Marsh's place in Monday's game against the Brewers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:44 pm

    • Brandon Marsh describes hamstring strain as mild
Brandon Marsh feels his hamstring strain is mild and he’s “looking for a pretty quick turnaround.”

Advice: Very good news. Marsh will obviously miss the next 10 days after going on the injured list this afternoon. If he misses only the minimum, he’d be out for just seven games, since the Phillies have three days off surrounding their trip to London this weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:37 pm

    • Remains out Monday
Abrams (shoulder) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.

Advice: Abrams reported improvement with his left shoulder Monday but still doesn't feel 100 percent when he's swinging a bat, per Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post. He'll miss out on a third consecutive start after he jammed the shoulder last week. With Abrams receiving more rest, Ildemaro Vargas will fill in at shortstop once again. • CJ Abrams (illness) remains out of lineup Monday
CJ Abrams (illness) remains out of the Nationals’ starting lineup for Monday night’s tilt against the Mets.

Advice: It’s the third consecutive contest that the dynamic 23-year-old shortstop has missed due to illness. He’s still considered day-to-day. Ildemaro Vargas will start in his place once again and will bat seventh against Tylor Megill and the Mets on Monday evening in Washington. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:43 pm

    • Goes on IL with hamstring strain
The Phillies placed Marsh on the 10-day injured list Monday with a right hamstring strain.

Advice: Marsh was lifted in the eighth inning of Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Cardinals with a right hamstring strain, and though the severity of the injury isn't fully known, the Phillies quickly ascertained that the outfielder was dealing with more than a day-to-day concern. Philadelphia called up David Dahl and Weston Wilson from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to give the club two additional healthy options in the outfield in the interim, and Whit Merrifield or Cristian Pache could also be in line to pick up more reps in left field while Marsh is on the shelf. Pache and Merrifield had already been seeing starts in left field this season as short-side platoon mates for the lefty-hitting Marsh. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:30 pm

    • Brandon Marsh (hamstring) heading to 10-day IL
Phillies placed OF Brandon Marsh on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.

Advice: Marsh sustained the injury while running the bases during the eighth inning of Sunday night’s ballgame against the Cardinals. It’s still unclear at the moment how long he’ll be shelved for. David Dahl was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move on Monday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:26 pm
