    • Joey Loperfido posts three hits Friday at Triple-A
Joey Loperfido went 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBI on Friday for Triple-A Sugar Land.

Advice: Loperfido doesn’t have a ton of professional experience at first base, but there’s an opportunity for him to carve out a role there after Houston’s front office abruptly cut ties with veteran José Abreu on Friday afternoon. The 25-year-old slugger has some contact issues that could limit his upside for fantasy managers, but he’s definitely going to hit for power with an everyday opportunity. It feels like it’s time for the Astros to see what they have since he has almost nothing left to prove at Triple-A. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

    • Brett Baty raises average to .519 at Triple-A
Brett Baty went 3-for-3 with an RBI on Friday for Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Baty has torn the cover off the ball since a late-May demotion to the minors, batting an absurd .519 (14-for-27) with three homers and 10 RBI in six games for Triple-A Syracuse. The 24-year-old former top prospect seems to be re-gaining some much-needed confidence at the dish and appears to be also adding some defensive versatility to his toolkit by spending some time at second base recently. It’s unclear when Baty will get another shot in New York, but he’s showed some encouraging signs over the last few weeks away from the spotlight in the upper minors. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago

    • Shane Baz strikes out eight on Friday at Triple-A
Shane Baz struck out eight and allowed one run over six innings on Friday for Triple-A Durham.

Advice: It’s time. Baz followed up last weekend’s 10-strikeout gem with another dazzling performance, allowing just four hits and one walk over six masterful frames. The 24-year-old top pitching prospect has completed his rehabilitation process from Tommy John surgery and appears poised to return to the majors at some point this month. He averaged 96.5 mph on his four-seam fastball in this one, while generating 14 swinging strikes and finishing with an astronomical 45 percent CSW. His ability to consistently generate whiffs on his fastball/slider combo will drive his fantasy appeal moving forward. Simply put, he should be rostered in all fantasy formats at this juncture. • Kris Bubic completes four frames in rehab finale
Kris Bubic (elbow) allowed two runs over four innings on Friday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Omaha.

Advice: Bubic struck out three and also issued three walks, needing 84 pitches (52 strikes) to complete four frames. The 26-year-old lefty’s minor league rehab assignment is up after this latest outing and it appears he’ll rejoin Kansas City’s starting rotation mix at some point next week. The big question for fantasy managers is whether he can come close to re-discovering the form that was starting to make him an intriguing option prior to undergoing Tommy John surgery. • Labors in loss
Howard (0-1) allowed four runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out one over 2.1 innings, taking the loss Friday versus the Angels.

Advice: Howard had been generally passable over his first three appearances (one start), but he struggled as the starter against a weak offense Friday. The Angels got on the board in the second inning and then poured it on in the third before Howard exited the contest. He's now at a 4.02 ERA with a 1.66 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB over 15.2 innings this season. Howard's time in the rotation was always likely to be temporary, though none of Blake Snell (groin), Alex Cobb (hip/shoulder) or Robbie Ray (elbow) are particularly close to returning. If Howard remains in the majors, he's lined up to make his next appearance on the road against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:12 pm
    • Rips three extra-base hits
Moniak went 3-for-5 with a triple, two doubles, two RBI and one run scored in Friday's 8-6 win over the Giants.

Advice: Moniak supplied a two-run double in the third inning. He's hit safely in his last six games, going 8-for-19 (.421) with five RBI, four walks and two stolen bases in that span. Kevin Pillar has been excellent since joining the Angels in May, but he'd been platooning with Moniak until recently. With Taylor Ward slumping, there's room for Pillar in left field and Moniak in center, though the latter will have to keep hitting to maintain his consistent playing time. Moniak is slashing .192/.241/.282 with two home runs, six doubles, one triple, 14 RBI, 15 runs scored and four steals over 166 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:07 pm
    • Goes deep in win
Neto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 8-6 win over the Giants.

Advice: The shortstop has three homers and 10 RBI over 12 contests in June, going 10-for-43 (.233) this month. Neto may not be making consistent contact, but the increased power is a positive nonetheless. He's maintained a .250/.298/.435 slash line with nine homers, 28 RBI, 26 runs scored, eight stolen base and 16 doubles through 67 contests this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:03 pm
    • Works as long reliever Friday
Urena allowed two hits and a walk while striking out two over 3.1 scoreless innings of relief in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Starter Andrew Heaney struggled over 4.2 innings, but Urena's strong performance spared the Rangers' bullpen. Prior to Friday, Urena had worked as a starter, covering 31.2 innings with a 2.84 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB over his previous six appearances. Urena's at a 3.23 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 39:18 K:BB through 55.2 innings overall. The Rangers have a short-term dilemma on their hands, as Urena has been at least as good as Heaney, though both pitchers could be out of the rotation once Max Scherzer (back/arm) is able to return. • Takes eighth loss
Heaney (2-8) allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings to take the loss versus the Mariners on Friday.

Advice: Heaney gave up a two-run home run to Mitch Garver in the first inning, his fifth homer allowed over his last seven appearances. This was the shortest of Heaney's three starts in June so far. The veteran southpaw is at a 4.19 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 62:18 K:BB through 66.2 innings across 14 appearances (13 starts) this season. It's unclear how he'll be utilized going forward -- he may lose his place in the rotation soon since Jon Gray returned from a groin injury last weekend and Max Scherzer (back/arm) could be back by the end of the month. Jose Urena, who pitched 3.1 scoreless innings of relief Friday, could also be a short-term option in the rotation if the Rangers grow tired of Heaney's inconsistency. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:44 pm
