    • Nolan Arenado out of lineup Tuesday vs. Marlins
Nolan Arenado is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Arenado has not been at his best lately, and after going 0-for-6 in Monday’s extra-innings win over the Marlins, the Cardinals will give their third baseman a day off. Brandon Crawford is getting his first ever start at third base while Arenado rests. Rotoworld 12 minutes ago

    • Taking seat Tuesday
Arenado is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Miami.

Advice: Arenado went 0-for-6 in Monday's extra-innings win over the Marlins and is just 3-for-20 over his last five games, so he's being given a day off to regroup. Brandon Crawford is making his first career start at third base. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago

    • Called up to big leagues
The Blue Jays recalled Martinez from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

Advice: Martinez is taking the roster spot vacated by Bo Bichette (calf), who has landed on the 10-day injured list. It's the first major-league promotion for Martinez, who has slashed .260/.343/.523 with 16 home runs over 63 games this season with Buffalo. The 22-year-old can play second base, third base and shortstop, although he has not be used at shortstop any this year. Martinez should see some action at second and/or third base while Bichette is out, with Isiah Kiner-Falefa likely to settle in at shortstop. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago

    • Blue Jays recall Orelvis Martinez from Triple-A
Blue Jays recalled INF Orelvis Martinez from Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: It unfortunately took an injury to Bo Bichette (calf) to happen, but Martinez is coming up for a chance to make his MLB debut in the coming days. The 22-year-old is the best hitting prospect in the Toronto system, and he’s socked 16 homers with an .866 OPS thus far for Triple-A Buffalo. He’s alsos truck out 65 times in 63 games, and swing-and-miss is going to likely be an issue. The power is great, but keep in mind that he might be a one-category player in the short term. • Tyler Freeman out of lineup Tuesday vs. Mariners
Tyler Freeman is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday’s tilt against the Mariners.

Advice: It appears to just be a day off for Freeman. The Guardians instead will give a start to Daniel Schneemann in center field, and he’ll hit eighth against Bryce Miller and the Mariners in the opening game of the three-game set. Rotoworld Today, 11:54 am

    • Guardians activate José Ramírez off paternity list
Guardians activated INF José Ramírez off the paternity list.

Advice: Ramírez missed the final two games of the Blue Jays series while his wife gave birth to their second child. The 31-year-old has been outstanding in 2024 with 18 homers and 11 stolen bases. Kyle Manzardo was optioned to create room on the roster. Rotoworld Today, 11:13 am

    • Returns from paternity leave
The Guardians activated Ramirez (personal) from the paternity list Tuesday.

Advice: Ramirez missed the final two games of the series in Toronto over the weekend as he welcomed a new addition to the family. He's now back for the start of the Guardians' three-game set versus the Mariners, which kicks off Tuesday night. Rotowire.com Today, 11:12 am

    • Three hits in big win
Vientos went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Monday's win over the Rangers.

Advice: The 24-year-old snapped out of an offensive swoon that had seen him bat .188 (6-for-32) over the prior 10 games. Vientos has a hammerlock on the starting job at third base for the Mets -- since returning to the majors in mid-May, he's slashing .292/.360/.494 with four homers and 14 RBI in 26 contests. His defense has even gotten more reliable, as he's committed only one error during that stretch and has a minus-2.9 UZR/150 through 206.1 innings at the hot corner, a huge improvement on the minus-13.4 UZR/150 he managed in 153 innings last year.
