  • Sharp in first rehab start
    Kershaw (shoulder) completed three innings in a rehab start with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out five batters.

    Advice: Kershaw impressed in his first game action since undergoing offseason shoulder surgery, throwing 26 of his 36 pitches for strikes and hitting 90 mph -- right around his regular-season velocity -- on his fastball. The veteran left-hander began a bit shakily in giving up a one-out first-inning triple that was cashed in on a sacrifice fly, but Kershaw was in complete control thereafter, with his only walk coming on a pitch-clock violation that appeared to be intentional in order to allow him to face another batter.   • Notches two hits, steal in win
    Ramirez went 2-for-4 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 8-0 win over the Mariners.

    Advice: Ramirez has picked up right where he left off following a brief stint on the paternity list. He's gone 4-for-9 with two RBI and two runs scored over two games since he returned. The third baseman continues to do a little bit of everything for the Guardians with a .275/.333/.531 slash line, 18 home runs, 12 steals, 64 RBI and 53 runs scored through 68 contests this season.     Langford went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a stolen base in a 5-3 victory versus the Mets on Wednesday.

    Advice: Langford logged an RBI on a based-loaded hit-by-pitch in the first inning and added a run-scoring single in the sixth. The rookie finished with his sixth multi-hit effort in June and pushed his batting average up to .288 on the month. That's a nice improvement after Langford batted just .222 coming into June, and the added hits have helped him become more of a run producer.     Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) went three innings in his first minor league rehab start at High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday night.

    Advice: The 36-year-old southpaw threw 36 pitches on the night — 26 of them for strikes — while hitting 90 mph on his fastball. Kershaw surrendered one run on two hits and a walk while punching out five in the ballgame. He’ll continue to work every fifth day or so in the minor leagues to build up his stamina with a goal of rejoining the Dodgers’ rotation at some point around the All-Star break.
