• Nick Pivetta making rehab start on Thursday
Nick Pivetta (elbow) is scheduled to make a minor league rehab start on Thursday.

Advice: Pivetta is targeting an early-May return to Boston’s starting rotation after landing on the injured list back on April 9 with a flexor strain in his right elbow. The 31-year-old righty is only expected to require one rehab outing before returning. It’s unclear whether he’ll have any initial workload restrictions yet. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:38 pm

  • Turns in scoreless outing
Pepiot (3-2) yielded two hits over six shutout frames Monday, striking out seven and earning a win over the Brewers.

Advice: Pepiot was nearly untouchable Monday, allowing just one Brewer to reach scoring position. At one point, he retired 14 consecutive batters. He's produced three straight quality starts and four in his six appearances this year. Over his last outings, Pepiot has given up just two runs with an 18:5 K:BB through 18 innings. He'll carry a 3.12 ERA into his next start, which is projected to be at home against the Mets this weekend. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:34 pm

  • Ryan Pepiot throws six scoreless innings in win
Ryan Pepiot went six scoreless innings and punched out seven batters in Monday’s 1-0 win against the Brewers.

Advice: Pepiot has now made it through six innings in three straight starts. After allowing four or more earned runs in two of his first three starts this season, the 26-year-old has found his rhythm and hasn’t allowed more than one run in his last three outings. Opponents are now batting .168 against the right-hander and he now has 38 strikeouts through his first six starts. He’s a must start in all fantasy formats and will look to continue a solid 2024 campaign against the Mets. Rotoworld Monday, 7:12 pm

  • Rehab start Thursday
Pivetta (elbow) is pencilled in to make a rehab start Thursday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: He threw 50 pitches in a live batting practice session Saturday, so Pivetta may only need one rehab outing before rejoining the big-league rotation. If he does return after Thursday's rehab start, Pivetta would line up to start in the two-game series in Atlanta on either May 8 or May 9. Rotowire.com Saturday, 1:01 pm

  • Throws 50-pitch session
After throwing a 50-pitch live batting practice session Saturday, Pivetta (elbow) noted that he was able to throw all his pitches and was happy with his outing, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Pivetta continues to make progress in his rehab from a right elbow flexor strain that landed him on the 15-day IL on April 9. Before landing on the IL, Pivetta went 1-1 over two starts, allowing one run on eight hits while striking out 13 over 11 frames. Rotowire.com Saturday, 9:53 am

  • Nick Pivetta (elbow) targeting early May return
Nick Pivetta (elbow) faced hitters on Saturday in a live batting practice session.

Advice: The tentative plan is for Pivetta to make a minor league rehab start later next week before returning to Boston’s starting rotation the following week to take the ball during a brief two-game set against the Braves. The 31-year-old righty has been on the shelf since early April due to a mild right elbow strain. Rotoworld Saturday, 8:39 am

  • Throwing live batting practice
Pivetta (elbow) will throw a 50-pitch live batting practice session Saturday, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: If Pivetta comes out the live BP session without any hiccups, he should be cleared to make a rehab start next week. That would probably set him up to rejoin the Red Sox rotation the following week if all goes well. Pivetta has been out since early April with a right elbow flexor strain. • Will make rehab start
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Pivetta (elbow) will make at least one rehab start before rejoining the rotation, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: The initial hope was that Pivetta could return from a right elbow flexor strain following a minimum stint on the injured list. That hasn't happened, as he's already missed more than 15 days. However, the right-hander has resumed throwing off a mound and is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session at Fenway Park on Saturday. If all goes well, Pivetta could make his rehab start late next week before potentially returning from the IL in the second week of May. Rotowire.com Thursday, 8:40 am

  • Delivers quality start Tuesday
Pepiot came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Tigers, allowing one run on three hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out four.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander produced his second straight quality start and third in five outings this season, tossing 52 of 80 pitches for strikes. Pepiot left the mound in line for his third win with Tampa out front, 2-1, but Colin Poche blew the save in the eighth inning. Pepiot will take a 3.77 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 31:10 K:BB through 28.2 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come early next week in Milwaukee. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:13 am
