• Hot streak continues
Nevin went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Pirates.

Advice: The 26-year-old took Quinn Priester deep in the third inning, extending an impressive stretch that has seen Nevin record four straight multi-hit performances as part of a nine-game hitting streak. He's left the yard four times during the heater, accounting for all of his homers on the season, and since joining Oakland at the beginning of April he's slashed .325/.375/.500 in 88 plate appearances with 10 runs and 10 RBI. Nevin posted consistently solid numbers in the minors but never got much of an opportunity in Baltimore, and he stumbled with Detroit in 2023. If this is his last chance to establish himself as a big-league player, he seems to be making the most of it. Rotowire.com Today, 5:58 am

  • Tyler Nevin belts solo homer to sink Pirates
Tyler Nevin went 2-for-4 with a solo homer on Wednesday, propelling the Athletics to a 4-0 victory over the Pirates.

Advice: Nevin has homered four times in his last seven games and continues to quietly emerge as a impact contributor for the Athletics. The 26-year-old first baseman is batting .325 (26-for-80) with four homers, 10 RBI and one steal in 25 games in his Oakland debut. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:09 pm

  • Tyler Nevin goes 2-for-3, hits third home run
Tyler Nevin went 2-for-3 with a homer against the Pirates in Monday’s win.

Advice: It was his third homer. Nevin has a nice .301/.350/.452 line in 80 plate appearances for the A’s, but the exit velocity numbers aren’t really there to back it up and he might find himself out of favor once the A’s get healthier; it’s doubtful he would have been claimed in the first place if not for Miguel Andujar’s injury. • Christian Yelich (back) throws from 120 feet away
Christian Yelich (back) threw from up to 120 feet away before Monday’s game.

Advice: Yelich has also resumed throwing, and the ability to throw from a relative distance is another positive encouragement. This was initially viewed as a potential short-term stint on the injured list, but right now it seems likely that Yelich won’t be back until the early-to-mid portion of May. • Gets day off
Rosario is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.

Advice: Rosario is on the bench for the first time since April 13, breaking a stretch of 14 consecutive starts during which he slashed .351/.373/.509 with two home runs, two stolen bases, nine RBI and seven runs. He's seen action mostly in right field and second base during that time and should continue to maintain a near-everyday role so long as he remains productive at the dish. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:09 pm

  • Throws from 120 feet
Yelich (back) played catch from 120 feet Monday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Yelich's recovery from a lower-back strain has come along more slowly than anticipated, but he's finally beginning to ramp things up. It's been two-and-a-half weeks since he last played for the Brewers and there remains no timetable for his return to the 26-man active roster. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:09 pm

  • Amed Rosario gets Monday off vs. Brewers
Amed Rosario is not in the lineup for Monday’s game against the Brewers.

Advice: Rosario has been excellent to begin the year with a .340 average over 97 at-bats, but the Rays will give him a day off Monday against the Brew Crew. Niko Goodrum gets the start at second base while Rosario rests. Rotoworld Monday, 1:43 pm

  • Leaves yard in win
Nevin went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run in a win over the Orioles on Sunday.

Advice: Nevin proved key to the Athletics' late-game rally with his seventh-inning solo shot, inching Oakland to within a run at the time. It was Nevin's second time leaving the yard in his last four games, and he extended his hitting streak to six games in the process. The 26-year-old has served as one of the most reliable bats in a highly inconsistent A's offense, now sporting a .286/.342/.400 slash line through 76 plate appearances. • Wyatt Langford’s first homer is inside-the-parker
Wyatt Langford made his first career homer an inside-the-parker Sunday in the Rangers’ 4-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Langford’s shot to right-center would have been a traditional homer in six ballparks. In Texas, it bounced off a fortunately angled wall and shot far into right field, allowing Langford to score without a play. Langford is batting .248/.325/.327 with 11 RBI through 27 games. It’s not quite what people expected after his huge spring, but he also hasn’t seemed overmatched in the least. He’ll continue improving from here. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:42 pm
