    • Out of lineup again Wednesday
Black is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Rangers.

Advice: After starting each of the first four games upon being called up from Triple-A Nashville last Wednesday, Black has now been out of the lineup for three straight contests, with two of them coming against right-handed pitching. Jake Bauers will garner a second straight start at first base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:17 am

    • Rangers demote Ezequiel Duran to Triple-A
Rangers optioned INF/OF Ezequiel Duran to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: We thought this might happen when Josh Jung came off the IL, but the Rangers declined to wait that long. Duran was hitting .256/.294/.324 in 187 plate appearances this season, and with Josh Smith thriving, he wasn’t going to play much following Jung’s return. A stint in Triple-A shouldn’t hurt. • Rangers activate Justin Foscue, send him to AAA
Rangers activated INF Justin Foscue from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Foscue played in just two games for the Rangers in April before suffering an oblique strain. There’s no room for him on the roster now, but if he excels in Triple-A, perhaps he’ll get a look at DH or maybe even first base later. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:20 am

    • Activated and optioned
The Rangers activated Foscue (oblique) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Foscue is fully recovered from the oblique strain that had kept him on the shelf since early April, but the Rangers will keep him at Round Rock, where he had been on a rehab assignment. The rookie infielder is 4-for-21 with one home run in seven games with Round Rock this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:19 am

    • Heading to Triple-A
The Rangers optioned Duran to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

Advice: Duran had a nice first full season with the Rangers in 2023, slashing .276/.324/.443 with 14 home runs and eight stolen bases. His follow-up in 2024 hasn't been as successful, as he sports just a .256/.294/.324 line with two home runs and one steal over 58 contests. Duran could still play a prominent role with the Rangers later this season, but for now he'll try to get back on track in a less-pressurized environment. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:12 am

    • On fire at Triple-A
Noel is slashing .402/.471/.705 with nine home runs and a 14.5-percent strikeout rate in his last 30 games for Triple-A Columbus.

Advice: With Kyle Manzardo failing to take a big-league job and run with it and Noel already being on the 40-man roster, Noel could get a shot as Cleveland's designated hitter sometime this summer. The righty-hitting slugger has huge raw power, and while he has seen 25 starts in the corner outfield spots this season, he's probably too big (6-foot-3, 250 pounds) to get regular starts in the outfield at the highest level. • Drives in three in win
Arias went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and one run scored in Tuesday's 10-8 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Arias has been in the lineup for the last two games since he returned from the family medical emergency list. The utility man provided a two-run double in the second inning and an RBI single in the eighth as one of four Guardians to log multiple hits in the contest. Arias is slashing .231/.262/.358 with two home runs, 14 RBI, 14 runs scored and four stolen bases on six attempts over 141 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:15 pm

    • Anthony Rendon (hamstring) set to resume hitting
Anthony Rendon (hamstring) will get live at-bats later this week.

Advice: Angels manager Ron Washington told reporters Rendon is making progress and should be able to resume live at-bats later this week. He’s been out since late April recovering from a partially-torn hamstring and appears to be inching closer to a rehab assignment. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:07 pm

    • Progressing toward live swings
Rendon (hamstring) is expected to start facing live pitching by this weekend, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: The veteran third baseman started up baseball activities in early June and is nearing full baseball activities as he continues to work his way back from a strained left hamstring. Rendon will likely require a minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining the Angels, so a return shouldn't be expected in the immediate future. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 4:07 pm
