• Looks set to join big club Thursday
The Reds announced Wednesday that Marte (suspension) has rejoined the team after completing his rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Marte won't be eligible to return from his 80-game suspension until Thursday's series opener in St. Louis, but since he's back in Cincinnati rather than sticking around in Louisville, the Reds are presumably preparing to add him back to the 26-man active roster ahead of their four-game series this weekend. The 22-year-old struggled to regain his timing at the plate during the rehab assignment, slashing .151/.151/.170 with no walks and a 28.3-percent strikeout rate over 12 games. However, after Marte posted an .822 OPS in 123 plate appearances in his first taste of the big leagues in 2023, the Reds look as though they'll allow him to iron out the kinks in the majors. He's seen action at third base, second base and shortstop during his rehab assignment and may have to settle for more of a utility role with the Reds initially until he performs well enough to warrant everyday playing time. • On fire at Triple-A
Noel is slashing .402/.471/.705 with nine home runs and a 14.5 percent strikeout rate in his last 30 games for Triple-A Columbus.

Advice: With Kyle Manzardo failing to take a big-league job and run with it and Noel already being on the 40-man roster, Noel could get a shot as Cleveland's designated hitter sometime this summer. The righty-hitting slugger has huge raw power, and while he has seen 25 starts in the corner outfield spots this season, he's probably too big (6-foot-3, 250 pounds) to get regular starts in the outfield at the highest level. • Gio Urshela gets Wednesday off for Tigers
Gio Urshela is out of the Tigers lineup Wednesday for the first time since June 15.

Advice: Urshela, who is hitting .253/.292/.322 on the season, didn’t seem likely to play quite this much when he came off the IL last month, but injuries to Kerry Carpenter and Javier Báez have eliminated any real need to get Matt Vierling and Andy Ibáñez playing time at third. Vierling is playing the hot corner today on what’s probably just a routine day off for Urshela. Rotoworld Today, 7:07 am

  • Resting for day game
Urshela is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: He'll take a seat for the day game after a night game, paving the way for Matt Vierling to pick up a start at third base. Urshela had been included in the Detroit lineup in each of the last nine games, going just 4-for-34 at the plate to bring his batting average down to .253 for the season. Rotowire.com Today, 7:01 am

  • Lifts seventh homer of season
Ortiz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Ortiz provided the go-ahead run in the fifth inning, starting the bottom of the fifth inning with a solo homer off Andrew Heaney. The long ball was Ortiz's second since May 17, with both coming in his last 11 games. During that 11-game stretch, Ortiz is 9-for-35 (.257) with seven runs. Rotowire.com Today, 12:03 am

  • Opens scoring with homer
Machado went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Machado has gone 14-for-38 (.368) over his last 10 contests, adding two homers and eight RBI in that span. The third baseman opened the scoring when he took MacKenzie Gore deep in the first inning Tuesday. Machado is still playing catch-up after a slow start to the campaign, but he's up to a .260/.314/.389 slash line with eight homers, 40 RBI, 34 runs scored and five stolen bases through 76 contests. His .703 OPS is the highest it's been since May 5. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:53 pm

  • Seven-game RBI streak
Diaz went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Tuesday against the Mariners.

Advice: Diaz led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run, continuing his excellent run of recent production. He has gone deep three times in his last six starts and also has at least one RBI in seven straight games. Diaz also extended his hitting streak to 18 games, during which he's hit .358. • Nabs two bags in loss
Garcia went 0-for-2 with two steals, two walks and one run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Garcia drew a second consecutive start at the keystone and stole two bases in the first inning after leading off with a walk. The 24-year-old has struggled mightily in June, as he entered the contest slashing .145/.211/.169 with no homers and four steals across 90 plate appearances. The Kansas City infield became more crowded with CJ Alexander debuting and Michael Massey (back) returning from the injured list Monday (though Massey will serve as DH for now), so Garcia will have to start producing at the plate and on the basepaths to maintain a starting role. • Ortiz homers to lift Brewers over Rangers
Joey Ortiz went 1-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday’s win over the Rangers.

Advice: Ortiz hit his seventh homer of the season into the left field stands to give the Brewers a 2-1 lead in the fifth. Ortiz has now hit safely in three of his last five games and is slashing .257/.373/.371 in June with four extra-base hits and eight RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:41 pm
