      Steele (0-1) took the loss against the Pirates on Thursday, surrendering five runs on six hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out seven.

      Advice: The Pirates tagged Steele for two runs in the top of the first on a two-run shot from Edward Olivares and proceeded to tack on runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. The lefty produced only one 1-2-3 inning on the night and allowed at least five runs for the second consecutive start.       Justin Steele allowed six hits, five earned runs and two home runs in 5 2/3 innings and picked up the loss against the Pirates on Thursday.



      Advice: Steele struck out seven batters, but he looked shaky for his second start in a row. His ERA increased to 5.68 in his four starts this season. Steele has 18 strikeouts and a 3.78 xFIP in 19 innings this season. The 28-year-old left-hander isn’t a lost cause, but he’s certainly a tough pitcher to start against the Braves next week.

    • Positive strides in bullpen session
      Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said Thursday in an interview on SNY that Senga (shoulder) recently had "a good bullpen" session where he was "making some strides."

      Advice: Senga had to pull back on facing hitters while he dealt with mechanical issues, but it sounds like he and the Mets were happy with how his last throwing session went. Stearns said he wasn't sure exactly when Senga would be ready to begin a rehab assignment, but it sounds like it could be relatively soon.       Springer went 1-for-4 with a walk, a double, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's loss to the Orioles.

      Advice: Back in the leadoff spot, Springer reached base multiple times for the first time in 12 games, something he last accomplished April 26. It's been a tough season so far for the veteran outfielder, and through 166 plate appearances Springer is slashing a sluggish .201/.277/.295 with three homers, seven steals, six RBI and 14 runs.     • Delivers five-out save Wednesday
      Munoz gave up a hit and struck out three over 1.2 scoreless innings Wednesday to record his seventh save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Royals.

      Advice: Austin Voth ran into trouble in the eighth inning, so Munoz got the call with runners on second and third and only one out to protect a 3-1 lead. The Mariners' closer did allow an inherited runner to score, but Seattle got the run right back in the bottom of the frame and Munoz dominated the ninth. It's the fourth time this season he's worked more than one inning to notch a save, and with Matt Brash (elbow) done for the year and Gregory Santos (lat) potentially not back until the All-Star break, Munoz may have to continue putting in extra work until Seattle settles on a new setup crew.       Bradley (1-1) earned the win over Boston on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out six batters over five innings.

      Advice: Bradley wasn't quite as sharp as he was in his season debut Friday versus the Yankees, when he gave up just one run and struck out seven batters over six innings, but a big difference Wednesday was that he went home with a win. The promising 23-year-old got a late start to the season after injuring his pectoral in spring training and subsequently landing on the injured list, but he's impressed in two starts since his return as he attempts to solidify the back of Tampa Bay's rotation.     • Gets no help in loss
      Lopez (4-3) allowed three runs on 10 hits while striking out three over 6.1 innings, taking the loss Wednesday versus the Yankees. He did not walk a batter.

      Advice: The 10 hits allowed were a season high for Lopez, who also received no run support in a 4-0 loss. He gave up a run in each of the first three innings before settling in to keep things relatively close. The Twins' ace is at a 3.93 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 58:8 K:BB through 50.1 innings over nine starts this season. Lopez is lined up for a more favorable road matchup versus the Nationals his next time out.       Martinez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.

      Advice: Martinez went deep in the eighth inning, launching a 403-foot solo shot off Spencer Turnbull. It was the veteran slugger's second long ball of the campaign, both of which have come over his past five games. Martinez is batting .350 (7-for-20) with four RBI over that stretch.     • Pablo López struggles in loss to Yankees
      Pablo López surrendered 10 hits, three earned runs, and a mammoth home run to Aaron Judge in 6 ⅓ innings on Wednesday. He took the loss and struck out just three Yankees.

      Advice: The Yankees, especially Judge, were all over López in this one. Judge hit a 467-foot moonshot in the first inning and every starter besides Anthony Rizzo had at least one hit.
