    • Kyle Harrison holds Pirates off board over six
Kyle Harrison blanked the Pirates over six innings Friday with seven strikeouts, but didn’t qualify for a decision.

Advice: Harrison gets a hard-luck no-decision because the Giants were unable to score a run while he was in the contest. The southpaw didn’t walk anyone while scattering five hits in one of his best starts an MLB hurler. Harrison will have some ups-and-downs as a 22-year-old in his first full season of action, but there’s a chance for the ups to outweigh those downs. He’ll look to build on this against the Red Sox on Wednesday. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago
    • Collects three hits
Bohm went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in Friday's win over San Diego.

Advice: Bohm doubled and scored in the first inning and later added an RBI single in the fourth. He has multiple hits in five of his last six games, going 15-for-26 (.577) with seven doubles in the process. Bohm has boosted his slash line to a robust .347/.431/.568 with 14 extra-base hits and 22 RBI through 109 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 9:37 pm

    • Coughs up four homers
Musgrove (3-3) allowed seven runs on eight hits and two walks over 3.2 innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against the Phillies.

Advice: Musgrove was cursed by the long ball Friday. He gave up a leadoff shot to Kyle Schwarber to begin the game before Philadelphia crushed three more homers during a four-run third inning. Musgrove is still searching for some consistency and his ERA has shot up to 6.94 through seven starts (35 innings). While he's struck out more than five batters just one time in 2024, he set a new season best by forcing 15 whiffs Friday, including seven with the slider. Musgrove will carry a lackluster 27:13 K:BB into his next outing, which is projected to be at home against the Reds. Rotowire.com Today, 9:30 pm
    • Joe Musgrove shelled over 3 2/3 in loss to PHI
Joe Musgrove gave up seven runs in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Friday.

Advice: Giving up eight hits while not getting out of the fourth inning. Giving up four homers in that time is worse. Musgrove simply didn’t have it Friday night against the loaded Philadelphia lineup, and a starter who had been just so-so coming into the outing was much worse than that. Musgrove will work on lowering his 6.94 ERA against the Reds on Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 9:28 pm
    • José Buttó gives up two homers in loss to Cards
José Buttó took his first loss after giving up four runs in 5 2/3 innings Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Buttó allowed just four hits, but two of them were long homers that accounted for all of the runs. The three-run homer from Alec Burleson in the second scored baserunners who had reached on a HBP and a walk. Control was the concern with Butto going in. There’s still a lot to like here, but that he’s walked 12 and hit three batters in 22 innings is rather discouraging. Rotoworld Today, 7:45 pm

    • Padres activate Manny Machado from paternity list
Padres activated INF Manny Machado from the paternity list.

Advice: Machado was away from the club over the first half of the week as he welcomed his first child — a healthy baby boy — into the world. The proud papa will start at third base for the first time all season and will bat cleanup against Aaron Nola and the Phillies on Friday evening in San Diego. Rotoworld Today, 4:18 pm

    • Starting at third base Friday
Machado (personal) was added to the active roster and is starting at third base for Friday's game against the Phillies, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Machado was placed on the paternity list Monday and ended up missing the Padres' last four games. What's notable about Friday's game is that Machado is starting at third base for the first time since getting surgery on his right elbow in October, while Graham Pauley serves as the designated hitter. Machado's return is a welcome one with rookie Jackson Merrill missing his second straight game due to a lingering groin issue. Machado is slashing .260/.324/.417 with four home runs and 12 RBI over 105 plate appearances to start the season. Rotowire.com Today, 2:45 pm

    • Mark Canha collects two hits in loss to Royals
Mark Canha went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles as the Tigers were shut out by the Royals on Friday afternoon at Comerica Park.

Advice: As a team, the Tigers tallied just five total hits in the ballgame, with Canha the only player to have more than one. The 35-year-old outfielder is actually off to a nice start in his first season with the Tigers, slashing .271/.398/.518 with five homers, 14 RBI and a stolen base through his first 25 games. Not bad for a guy that was going outside the top-350 picks overall in fantasy drafts this spring. Rotoworld Today, 1:14 pm

    • One out shy of quality start
Assad didn't factor into the decision Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over 5.2 innings against the Astros. He struck out five.

Advice: Although Assad was only at 85 pitches, he was pulled one out before becoming eligible for the quality start after allowing a pair of baserunners. Although Assad has completed six innings only once in five starts, he boasts a 2.00 ERA and a 26:9 K:BB with a 2-0 record. He's tentatively scheduled for a start against the Mets early next week.
