    Jeimer Candelario finished 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Rangers on Friday.

    Advice: Candelario would have been one to avoid in fantasy drafts this year if only he had signed with almost any other team. With the Reds, though, there was reason to think he’d maintain ample mixed-league value. Instead, his exit velocity numbers are way down and his strikeout rate is way up, making this a truly miserable April for the 30-year-old. It doesn’t seem likely that he’ll remain this bad, but he’s fortunate that the Noelvi Marte suspension and Matt McLain injury have left his playing time unchallenged.     Muncy went 3-for-6 with a three-run homer and an additional run scored in Friday's 12-2 win over the Blue Jays.

    Advice: Muncy broke the game open in the third inning with a three-run blast off Chirs Bassitt, extending the Dodgers' lead to 6-0. The 33-year-old Muncy is now 5-for-9 in his last two contests after going 0-for-10 in his previous four games.     Willi Castro doubled twice while going 3-for-4 in a victory Friday over the Angels.

  • Carlos Santana homers as Twins top Angels
    Carlos Santana homered and drove in two runs in a 5-3 win for the Twins over the Angels on Friday.

    Advice: Santana opened the scoring with a solo homer off Patrick Sandoval in the second inning. The veteran picked up another RBI with a single in the sixth to extend Minnesota’s lead to 4-0.     Bohm went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in Friday's win over San Diego.

    Advice: Bohm doubled and scored in the first inning and later added an RBI single in the fourth. He has multiple hits in five of his last six games, going 15-for-26 (.577) with seven doubles in the process.   • Josh Rojas stays hot with homer vs. Diamondbacks
    Josh Rojas hit a solo homer and scored twice against the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

    Advice: Rojas has hit in the leadoff spot against right-handers with JP Crawford out of the lineup, and so far it’s worked quite well. He hit a leadoff homer off Zac Gallen in the bottom of the first, and he also drew a walk.     Kevin Newman hit a solo homer in a loss to the Mariners on Friday.

    Advice: Newman was responsible for the only run for the Diamondbacks with a solo shot in the sixth inning. The 30-year-old is still hitting a lackluster .186/.205/.372, and there just aren’t enough nights like this one to consider him as a viable fantasy option. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:09 pm

  • Joey Ortiz homers, singles home game winner
    Joey Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBI to help the Brewers to a 7-6 win over the Yankees on Friday.

    Advice: The homer was the first MLB shot for Ortiz, and it came off Luis Gil in the second inning with a runner on. On top of that honor, the 25-year-old came up clutch with an RBI single in the 11th inning to give the Brewers the victory. Ortiz has held his own in his first year as a member of the Milwaukee infield with a slash of .264/.355/.377, but he’s more of a long-term play than someone fantasy managers should rush to add.   • Alex Burleson hits first homer in Cardinals’ win
    Alec Burleson’s first homer of the year was a three-run shot off José Buttó in the Cardinals’ 4-2 win over the Mets on Friday.

    Advice: The Cardinals could have sent down Burleson instead of Jordan Walker this week, and they still might later once they get Matt Carpenter back. It’d be better, though, if Burleson could start to produce and make himself a candidate to start regularly against righties in left field.
