  • Marcus Semien homers in eighth to lead Rangers
    Marcus Semien hit his fifth homer Friday as the Rangers bested the Reds 2-1.

    Advice: Semien nearly had two homers, but his 410-foot drive to center in the fifth, which Statcast said would have been gone in 18 parks, was caught at the wall. The actual homer was hit 392 feet and broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth. It gave hm 19 runs scored and 20 RBI in 27 games, even though it doesn’t seem like either he or the Rangers offense as a whole has really caught fire yet. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:22 pm
     
  • Jeimer Candelario goes 0-for-4 in defeat
    Jeimer Candelario finished 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Rangers on Friday.

    Advice: Candelario would have been one to avoid in fantasy drafts this year if only he had signed with almost any other team. With the Reds, though, there was reason to think he’d maintain ample mixed-league value. Instead, his exit velocity numbers are way down and his strikeout rate is way up, making this a truly miserable April for the 30-year-old. It doesn’t seem likely that he’ll remain this bad, but he’s fortunate that the Noelvi Marte suspension and Matt McLain injury have left his playing time unchallenged.   • Launches fifth homer
    Muncy went 3-for-6 with a three-run homer and an additional run scored in Friday's 12-2 win over the Blue Jays.

    Advice: Muncy broke the game open in the third inning with a three-run blast off Chirs Bassitt, extending the Dodgers' lead to 6-0. The 33-year-old Muncy is now 5-for-9 in his last two contests after going 0-for-10 in his previous four games.     Neto went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and one RBI in Friday's loss to Minnesota.

    Advice: Neto doubled and scored in the sixth inning and later added an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth. After producing just two multi-hit efforts through his first 21 games, the second-year shortstop has collected multiple hits in three of his last four games.   • Willi Castro doubles twice as Twins top Angels
    Willi Castro doubled twice while going 3-for-4 in a victory Friday over the Angels.

    Advice: Castro has doubled six times on the year with the pair of two-baggers. The 27-year-old also singled to improve his slash to .221/.307/.377. The versatility is nice, but not nice enough to suggest him as an addition to a fantasy roster. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:43 pm

  • Carlos Santana homers as Twins top Angels
    Carlos Santana homered and drove in two runs in a 5-3 win for the Twins over the Angels on Friday.

    Advice: Santana opened the scoring with a solo homer off Patrick Sandoval in the second inning. The veteran picked up another RBI with a single in the sixth to extend Minnesota’s lead to 4-0. Santana was due for a game like this, as even with the pair of hits and homer, he’s slashing an anemic .165/.250/.266 over the first month of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:43 pm

    Bohm went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in Friday's win over San Diego.

    Advice: Bohm doubled and scored in the first inning and later added an RBI single in the fourth. He has multiple hits in five of his last six games, going 15-for-26 (.577) with seven doubles in the process.   • Josh Rojas stays hot with homer vs. Diamondbacks
    Josh Rojas hit a solo homer and scored twice against the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

    Advice: Rojas has hit in the leadoff spot against right-handers with JP Crawford out of the lineup, and so far it’s worked quite well. He hit a leadoff homer off Zac Gallen in the bottom of the first, and he also drew a walk.   • Kevin Newman connects on solo homer in loss
    Kevin Newman hit a solo homer in a loss to the Mariners on Friday.

    Advice: Newman was responsible for the only run for the Diamondbacks with a solo shot in the sixth inning. The 30-year-old is still hitting a lackluster .186/.205/.372, and there just aren’t enough nights like this one to consider him as a viable fantasy option. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:09 pm
