• Ezequiel Tovar homers twice against A’s
Ezequiel Tovar hit a pair of solo homers Tuesday in a losing cause against the A’s.

Advice: In spite of his willingness to swing at anything and everything, Tovar has managed to hit .279/.313/.468 this season. His second homer today, projected at 443 feet, was the second longest of his career and easily the longest among those to come away from Coors Field. He’s actually hit 14 of his 23 career homers on the road, though his batting average is far better at home (.287 to .229). Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:42 pm
  • Nick Gonzales delivers walk-off hit vs SF
Nick Gonzales went 2-for-5 with a game-winning single in a 7-6 win over the Giants in 10 innings on Tuesday.

Advice: The 24-year-old laced a 98 mph single off Erik Miller to score the game-winning run after David Bednar stranded the inherited runner on second in the top half of the inning. Gonzales is now hitting .282/.310/.462 with nine RBI in 11 games since being called up from Triple-A. Considering he had also made some real strides in his plate discipline at Triple-A and was hitting .358 in 30 games, Gonzales might be worth an add in deeper formats while he’s playing every day in Pittsburgh. • Sean Murphy (oblique) homers in rehab contest
Sean Murphy (oblique) homered on Tuesday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Gwinnett.

Advice: Murphy caught seven innings behind the plate and also threw out a runner attempting to steal second base in this one. The 29-year-old backstop looked ready to return to the majors in this one, but he’ll presumably get at least a couple more contests under his belt before heading back to Atlanta. • Byron Buxton homers twice, Twins demolish Nats
Byron Buxton went 2-for-5 with two homers and three RBI on Tuesday, powering the Twins to a 10-0 blowout victory over the Nationals.

Advice: Buxton helped Minnesota snap a seven-game losing streak with a 10-run explosion highlighted by his 11th career multi-homer performance. The 30-year-old center fielder has undeniably gotten off to an ice-cold start at the plate this season, but he’s shown some signs of life since returning from the injured list earlier this week. He took Nationals starter Patrick Corbin deep in the second and fifth innings, respectively, to spearhead the Twins’ offensive outburst. We’re not going to draw too many conclusions from a single contest, but this certainly feels like it has the potential to be a confidence-booster for Buxton moving forward. • Brett Baty gets Tuesday off against Guardians
Brett Baty is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Guardians.

Advice: Baty has really struggled as of late, and the 24-year-old will ride the pine to begin Tuesday’s game with Mark Vientos getting the start. Baty still have long-term appeal, but there’s just as much risk as reward in his profile for the 2024 season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:00 pm

  • Not in Tuesday's lineup
Baty is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Cleveland.

Advice: The Mets had been using a strict platoon at third base since Mark Vientos was recalled, but it will be Vientos getting the start at third base in this one against right-hander Xzavion Curry. Baty is hitting just .125/.186/.150 with a 43.2 percent strikeout rate since his two-homer game back on May 3 and could be losing his grip on a starting job. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:53 am

  • Ji Hwan Bae called up, starting in center vs. SF
Pirates recalled OF Ji Hwan bae from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: Bae will start in center field Tuesday against the Giants and hit ninth. The 24-year-old had some flashes of success for Pittsburgh in 2023, but he isn’t likely to contribute in enough categories to be a recommended addition in fantasy circles. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:32 am

  • Recall made official
The Pirates recalled Bae from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

Advice: Bae began the season on the injured list with a hip issue and was optioned once healthy. He's earned a promotion following a terrific run at Indianapolis, though, during which he sported a .367/.479/.551 batting line with four home runs and seven stolen bases over 27 games. Bae is capable at a handful of positions but is mostly a second baseman and center fielder. He could see semi-regular duty. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:10 am

  • Starting spot in jeopardy
Baty appears to be at risk of losing his starting job at third base to Mark Vientos, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Since slugging two home runs in a May 3 loss to the Rays, Baty is slashing an anemic .125/.186/.150 with a 43.2 percent strikeout rate. Vientos has mainly been used as a short-side platoon option since his most recent promotion, but he's gone 4-for-14 with two doubles in four games. Baty hasn't let his struggles affect his defense, and his reliable glove may be the only thing keeping him in the starting nine at the moment. With the Mets scrambling to find offense, though, they might decide they can live with Vientos' inferior glove at the hot corner if he can produce at the plate. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:32 am
