Given that he's valued mainly for his contributions at the plate rather than as a pitch framer and game caller, Diaz's lengthy dry spell with the bat looks to be costing him playing time. The Astros have already pulled back on using Diaz as a designated hitter on days he doesn't catch; he started seven games at DH between March and April, but he hasn't made a start as a DH since May 17.       Evan Phillips tossed a perfect ninth inning on Saturday against the Rockies to collect his ninth save of the season.

      Advice: Phillips got the call to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and required just 11 pitches (seven strikes) to slam the door. The 29-year-old righty picked up his first save since returning from the injured list ahead of Friday’s series opener and remains one of the better closing options in the entire fantasy landscape.       Rooker went 2-for-5 with a two-run double and a two-run home run in a win over Atlanta on Saturday.

      Advice: Rooker extended the Athletics' lead to 8-3 via his 421-foot blast in the fourth inning with Max Schuemann aboard, and he then erased a 9-8 deficit in the sixth by bringing home Miguel Andujar and Schuemann with a timely two-bagger. The pair of extra-base hits pushed Rooker's total in that category to 24 (out of 49 total hits), and he's now reached safely in 12 straight games while getting on at a stellar .388 clip in that span.       Phillips pitched a perfect inning and struck out one to earn the save in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Rockies.

      Advice: This was Phillips' first appearance in nearly a month due to a hamstring strain. He looked rust-free, throwing 11 pitches (seven strikes) to set down the bottom of the Rockies' order for his ninth save of the season. Phillips has a 0.61 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 18:4 K:BB over 14.2 innings, and he's yet to take a blown save this year. It doesn't appear he'll be eased into the closer role again, not that he needs to be handled with kid gloves considering his track record in high-leverage spots over the last two years.       Advice: Alonso doubled in the first then hit a two-run home run in the ninth off Brandon Hughes. While the game was out of reach, the homer was Alonso's 13th of the year and resulted in his third multi-hit effort in his past nine games.       Romano (elbow) had an MRI on his right elbow Friday night, which didn't reveal any structural damage, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

      Advice: Romano was placed on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his throwing elbow, but he appears to have avoided a significant injury. The 31-year-old will be shut down from throwing for a few days before Toronto will determine what direction the team will go from there.       Romano was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to May 30, with right elbow inflammation, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

      Advice: Romano was unavailable for Friday's 5-3 victory over the Pirates due to right elbow soreness and he'll now be forced to miss a couple weeks of action while nursing the injury. The 31-year-old produced a 9.00 ERA and 1.88 WHIP over eight innings, while suffering a blown save and being tagged with a pair of losses in nine appearances with Toronto in May, so the time off could serve as a reset button for him. In the meantime, left-hander Brendon Little was called up from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday to replace him on the major-league roster.
