    • Connor Wong hitting third for Red Sox on Monday
Connor Wong is starting behind the plate and batting third for the Red Sox on Monday against the Rays.

Advice: Wong has hit as high as second this season but only against left-handed pitching, so having him hit third with Rafael Devers and Tyler O’Neill both in the lineup is surprising. The Red Sox are clearly looking to spark some offense, and Wong is hitting .364/.417/.500 in six games in May with just a 21% strikeout rate, so Boston is looking to see if his hot bat can spark their offense. Fantasy managers who lost Willson Contreras can certainly look to Wong to fill the gap with him swinging the bat this well. Rotoworld 12 minutes ago
    • Exits starting nine
Cooper is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Cooper enjoyed a productive weekend in the Red Sox's series victory over the Nationals, starting in two of the three contests while producing three hits (two doubles, one single), one run and one RBI over six at-bats. He'll cede first base to Dominic Smith on Monday, but Cooper still looks to be locked into a near-everyday role for the Red Sox until Triston Casas (rib) returns from the injured list. • Heston Kjerstad sent down to Triple-A
Orioles optioned OF Heston Kjerstad to Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: Well, now we have the corresponding roster move for the Kyle Stowers promotion. Kjerstad got just 17 plate appearances in this stint in the big leagues, going 2-for-14 with six strikeouts and two walks. It’s likely the Orioles simply wanted him to go back to the minors to get everyday at-bats. Stowers is hitting just .240 in Triple-A; although, he does have 11 home runs, but as a 26-year-old, the Orioles likely feel more comfortable with him operating as a strictly bench bat. • Promotion official
The Orioles recalled Stowers from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.

Advice: Baltimore cleared room on the 26-man active roster for Stowers by optioning outfielder/first baseman Heston Kjerstad to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Stowers, 26, is joining the big club for the first time this season, but he saw action with the Orioles during the 2022 and 2023 campaigns and owns a collective .207/.267/.331 in 131 career big-league plate appearances. He'll likely serve as a depth outfielder while he's up with the Orioles and could be sent back to Triple-A once Austin Hays (calf) is ready to return from the injured list. • Return to minor leagues
The Orioles optioned Kjerstad to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.

Advice: Kjerstad's stint with the big club came and went with a relative whimper, as Baltimore didn't give him many opportunities after he was called up from Triple-A on April 23. He made just four starts during his 17-game stay in the majors, recording a pair of base hits and two walks over 17 plate appearances. The Orioles remain at close to full health in the infield and outfield and don't have an opening in the lineup for Kjerstad at the moment, so the 25-year-old will move back to Norfolk so that he can play on an everyday basis. Baltimore called up outfielder Kyle Stowers from Triple-A to take Kjerstad's spot on the 26-man active roster. Rotowire.com 19 minutes ago

    • Runs bases Sunday
LeMahieu (foot) ran the bases Sunday and will take live batting practice again Tuesday, per the Associated Press.

Advice: Running the bases is a significant step in LeMahieu's recovery from a non-displaced fracture of his right foot. The veteran infielder has also been taking batting practice and fielding ground balls, and he could re-start a minor-league rehab assignment soon. LeMahieu had begun a rehab stint April 23 but had to be pulled after just one inning due to experiencing soreness in the injured foot. Rotowire.com 23 minutes ago

    • Swats first big-league homer
Jones went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk against the Rays in Sunday's 10-6 victory.

Advice: Jones enjoyed a career milestone when he belted a solo shot in the third inning for his first major-league home run. It was a rare opportunity for him to make an impact -- though Jones has stuck on the Yankees' roster throughout the campaign, Sunday marked just his second start, and he's seen only 10 plate appearances overall. Jones has gone 2-for-8 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch in his limited turns at the dish. Rotowire.com Today, 10:45 am
    • Snaps slump with key homer
Torres went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 10-6 win over Tampa Bay.

Advice: Torres came into the contest batting .156 through 10 games in May and failed to reach base in his first three plate appearances Sunday. However, he came up big in the eighth inning, smashing a three-run shot to increase the Yankees' lead to 9-5. The long ball was just his second of the season, which is a pretty significant drop-off after he went deep 25 times in 158 contests last year. Rotowire.com Today, 10:36 am
    • Returns from IL
Triple-A Nashville reinstated Roller (undisclosed) from its 7-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Roller has gone 2-for-12 with two doubles, one walk, one RBI and two runs in his first three games back in action for Nashville. He was sidelined for just under a month due to the unspecified injury. Rotowire.com Today, 10:35 am
