    • Edwin Díaz strikes out two in rehab appearance
Edwin Díaz (shoulder) struck out two in a scoreless inning on Thursday in a minor league rehab appearance for High-A Brooklyn.

Advice: Díaz threw 14 pitches (11 strikes) and was reportedly touching 98 mph on his heater in his first rehab outing as he works his way back from a right shoulder impingement that sent him to the injured list back in late May. The 30-year-old righty figures to take over as New York’s primary closing option once he returns, despite his struggles this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:32 pm

    • Christopher Morel in Thursday’s lineup vs. Reds
Christopher Morel (foot) is in the lineup for Thursday’s showdown against the Reds.

Advice: It’s a positive sign that Morel is back in the lineup without missing any time after making an early exit from Wednesday’s contest against the White Sos after fouling a ball off his left foot. The 24-year-old has been a mainstay in the heart of Chicago’s lineup supplying 11 homers and six steals through 61 contests. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:54 pm

    • Jarred Kelenic out Thursday due to wrist issue
Jarred Kelenic (wrist) is absent from the lineup for Thursday’s series opener against the Nationals.

Advice: Kelenic jammed his right wrist making a diving catch during the ninth inning of Wednesday’s showdown at Fenway Park and will sit out Thursday’s series opener against the Nationals for some extra rest. The 24-year-old corner outfielder underwent precautionary X-rays that came back negative for any fractures, so he’s unlikely to wind up missing more than a handful of games. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:41 pm

    • In Thursday's lineup
Morel (foot) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Thursday against the Reds.

Advice: Morel was taken out of Wednesday's game after fouling a ball off his left foot, but he appears to be feeling well enough to return to the Cubs' lineup without a day off. The 24-year-old has posted just a .203 batting average so far this season, but he has been heating up recently, going 6-for-19 with two homers, three RBI and six runs scored across his last six games. • Bobby Witt Jr. steals two bags in win over CLE
Bobby Witt Jr. reached twice while stealing two bases in a 4-3 win for the Royals over the Guardians on Thursday.

Advice: Witt Jr. is now up to 19 thefts on the year. The speedy superstar is playing at an MVP level with a .317/.371/.560 slash, and has picked up hits in each game thus far in June. If 2025 drafts were held now — and they are decidedly not — it’d be hard to argue that he wouldn’t be the first pick in the overwhelming majority of leagues. Scary to think he’s still only 23, too. • Held out Thursday
Kelenic (wrist) isn't in Atlanta's lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Kelenic made an early exit from Wednesday's contest after injuring his right wrist on a diving catch in the sixth inning. Initial X-rays came back clean immediately after the game, but Atlanta will err on the side of caution and keep him out for Thursday's series opener. Adam Duvall, Michael Harris and Brian Anderson will start across the outfield with Kelenic out. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:39 pm

    • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. swats three-run homer in win
Vladimir Guerrero popped a three-run homer Thursday to help the Blue Jays to a win over the Orioles.

Advice: Vladdy Jr. gave Cade Povich a rude introduction during Povich’s MLB debut with a three-run blast in the third. The 25-year-old also drew a walk and singled. Guerrero Jr. has made loads of hard contact and certainly has been a contributor in the average category with a .295 RBI, but it’s great to see the infielder start to drive the baseball on a more consistent basis as of late. • Cowser starts in CF over Mullins again for Orioles
Colton Cowser will start in center field and bat ninth for the Orioles on Thursday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: With left-hander Yusei Kikuchi on the mound for the Blue Jays, the Orioles have opted to bench Cedric Mullins and let Cowser start in center field. It’s now the fourth time in the last six games that Cowser has started in center field, and the fact that both Cowser and Mullins hit left-handed suggests that Baltimore might have more confidence in the rookie right now. Austin Hays is also starting in left field for the fourth time in the last five games, including three games against right-handed pitchers. This has the makings of Cedric Mullins being moved to more of a bench role amidst his struggles. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:36 am
    • Taking seat Thursday
Fry is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Fry will take a seat for Thursday's series finale, as he had been scheduled to head to the bench Wednesday before that game was postponed due to inclement weather. Though his 1.092 OPS on the season ranks first in the majors among all players with at least 140 plate appearances, Fry still hasn't quite locked down a full-time role in Cleveland. He'll be out of the lineup for the second time in three games while the Guardians go with Bo Naylor at catcher and Kyle Manzardo at designated hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:20 am
