    • Lands on IL with fractured thumb
The Reds placed Friedl on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a fractured left thumb.

Advice: Friedl left Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Giants after being hit by a pitch in the top of the first inning. The injury was initially reported as a contusion, but further tests revealed fractures in his left thumb. Friedl started the season on the IL with a fractured right wrist, and he appeared in just six major-league games after being activated May 7. Stuart Fairchild and Jake Fraley will see more playing time while Friedl remains sidelined. The Reds recalled outfielder Jacob Hurtubise from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. • Reds place Friedl on I.L. with thumb fracture
Reds placed OF TJ Friedl on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured left thumb.

Advice: The report yesterday was that X-rays were negative on Friedl’s thumb after he was hit by a pitch, but it seems that wasn’t the case. Friedl was injured in his sixth game since returning from a sprained wrist. The Reds figure to go back to Will Benson in center, but they might want to give the newly recalled Jacob Hurtubise a shot. • Benched against lefty
Kelenic is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Kelenic will retreat to the bench for the series opener versus the Cubs with ace lefty Shota Imanaga taking the bump for Chicago. The right-handed-hitting Adam Duvall will fill in for Kelenic in left field. Rotowire.com Today, 3:02 pm

    • Pops homer Sunday
Kelenic went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Mets.

Advice: Kelenic got Atlanta on the board first with a solo home run off Luis Severino in the second inning. He now has two home runs in the last week after having none in all of April and is slashing .274/.322/.393 with seven RBI, 10 runs and a 6:29 BB:K in 90 plate appearances. • Goes deep in win
Fry went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer, two runs scored and two walks in Sunday's 7-0 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Fry belted a two-run shot in the fourth inning and later reached base twice more. The breakout utility man has gone 10-for-28 (.357) with four extra-base hits over his last 10 games. Through 27 games, Fry is slashing .309/.437/.515 with three home runs and 14 runs scored. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:47 pm

    • TJ Friedl diagnosed with left thumb contusion
The Reds announced that TJ Friedl was diagnosed with a left thumb contusion after being hit by a pitch during Sunday’s game against the Giants.

Advice: Fortunately, X-rays came back negative on Friedl’s thumb after he was pulled from Sunday’s game. That wasn’t before he swiped a base and scored a run in the top half of the first inning though. He may wind up missing a game or two due to pain and swelling, but it sounds like Friedl should be able to avoid a return trip to the injured list. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:51 pm

    • Dealing with thumb injury
Friedl suffered a right thumb contusion in Sunday's matchup with the Giants, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Friedl was hit by a pitch in the top of the first inning and exited the contest after not feeling well in the batting cages. The outfielder appears to have avoided any fractures in his thumb, so he can be considered day-to-day for the time being. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:47 pm

    • David Fry hits two-run homer, reaches three times
David Fry hit a two-run homer and walked twice Sunday against the White Sox.

Advice: The Guardians barely played Fry against righties during the season’s first five weeks, but this is the third time in the last four such games that he’s been included in the lineup and his homer today came off a righty in Mike Soroka. He should be a top-15 fantasy catcher if the Guardians keep using him like this. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:12 pm

    • TJ Friedl leaves game with thumb injury Sunday
TJ Friedl was removed from Sunday’s contest against the Giants after being hit by a pitch on his thumb.

Advice: Friedl remained in the game initially — even swiping second base and coming around to score a run — but he tested out his thumb in the cages to see if he would be able to swing a bat and he couldn’t do it. Presumably he’s heading for X-rays to see if there’s any structural damage. Stay tuned. It would be a big blow for the Reds to lose the dynamic 28-year-old outfielder again after just getting him back this week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:05 pm
