    • Excels in first rehab start
      Cole (elbow) completed 3.1 scoreless innings in a minor-league rehab start with Double-A Somerset on Tuesday, allowing two hits and striking out five batters.

      Advice: In the first of what is expected to be multiple rehab outings, Cole threw 45 pitches and hit 97 miles per hour on the radar gun, per Brendan Kuty of The Athletic. The veteran hurler surrendered a single to the first batter he faced but yielded just one more hit over the remainder of his outing. The beginning of Cole's rehab stint couldn't have gone much better, but he's still expected to need at least a couple more appearances in the minors before he's ready to join the Yankees rotation.     • Gerrit Cole strikes out five on Tuesday at AA
      Gerrit Cole (elbow) struck out five over 3 1/3 scoreless innings on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start for Double-A Somerset.

      Advice: Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Cole will require “at least a few” rehab outings before making his season debut, but he looked extremely sharp in this one. The 33-year-old reigning AL Cy Young Award winner was reportedly sitting in the mid-to-upper 90’s with his fastball and threw 45 pitches (34 strikes).     • Needs multiple rehab starts
      Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Cole (elbow) will require "at least a few" minor-league rehab starts before returning from the 60-day injured list, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Cole will make his first rehab start Tuesday with Double-A Somerset and is slated to throw 40-to-50 pitches in that outing. Assuming he adds around 10-to-15 pitches to each of his subsequent rehab starts, the righty would presumably require two additional outings at a minimum after Tuesday's appearance before slotting back into the Yankees rotation. With that in mind, Cole doesn't appear on track to make his 2024 Yankees debut until at least late June, provided he checks out fine physically during his rehab assignment.     • Strikes out six in no-decision
      Skubal did not factor into the decision in Monday's 2-1 win over the Rangers, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts over six innings.

      Advice: Skubal surrendered a leadoff home run to Marcus Semien in the first inning but held the Rangers in check over the next five and left the mound in a 1-1 tie. Skubal allowed at least one baserunner in each inning, but he was still able to earn a quality start despite not having his best stuff. Through 12 starts, Skubal, who has not walked more than two batters in any game this season, has posted a sparkling 1.97 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 86:13 K:BB and tentatively lines up for a home matchup against the Brewers on Sunday.       Tarik Skubal allowed one run in six innings and got a no-decision in the Tigers’ 2-1 victory over the Rangers on Monday.

      Advice: Skubal gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out six. He managed to earn a quality start for the ninth time in 12 starts this season. Skubal allowed a leadoff home run to Marcus Semien, but that was the only run the Rangers could muster against him. His ERA is now 1.97 as he continues to push for the AL Cy Young award.     • Seven strong innings
      King came away with a no-decision Sunday against the Royals, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out four over seven innings.

      Advice: King was sharp, not allowing an extra-base hit and turning in another quality start, his fifth over his past six contests. The 29-year-old snapped a three-game streak allowing a home run, something he has struggled with all season -- his 1.8 HR/9 ranks in the ninth percentile. On the whole, King has been solid this season, recording a 3.82 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with a 78:31 K:BB across 73 innings.     • Austin Gomber lasts three innings in loss Sunday
      Austin Gomber lasted just three innings in Sunday afternoon’s loss to the Dodgers, surrendering three runs on five hits and three walks.

      Advice: The 30-year-old hurler punched out two batters in the ballgame. Most of the damage done against him came via the long ball, with Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman each blasting solo homers in the opening inning. The Dodgers added another run in the third on an RBI single by Miguel Rojas. Gomber got just six swings and misses on 79 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 20 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a 3.06 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and a 43/20 K/BB ratio (61 2/3 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Cardinals in St. Louis. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:12 pm

      Luis Castillo delivered a dominant performance in Sunday afternoon’s victory over the Angels, allowing just two hits and three walks over seven shutout innings.

      Advice: Castillo piled up six strikeouts in the impressive outing. The only real threat against him came in the fourth inning as the Angels used a pair of walks to put two men on with two outs for Jo Adell — who Castillo got to fly out harmlessly to center field. The 31-year-old hurler generated a staggering 21 swings and misses on 102 pitches in the contest — 13 of them on his fastball alone — while posting a strong CSW of 30 percent. Now 5-6 on the season, Castillo will carry a tidy 2.99 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and an 81/22 K/BB ratio (78 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s showdown against the Royals in Kansas City.       Castillo (5-6) allowed two hits and three walks while striking out six over seven scoreless innings to earn the win over the Angels on Sunday.

      Advice: Castillo's gone seven innings in three of his 13 starts this season, and he's kept runs off the board in the each of those outings. He allowed four runs in each of his first three starts of the season, but he hasn't given up more than three runs in any of his last 10 appearances, nine of which went down as quality starts.
