    • Swipes bag in loss
Alvarez went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Alvarez was just one of two Astros to have more than one hit on the evening and he recorded his second steal of the year in the sixth. Alvarez now has four multi-hit efforts in his last eight games and nine total for the month of May. For the season, the 27-year-old is slashing .269/.347/.447 with nine homers, 22 RBI, 27 runs and a 41:23 K:BB in 236 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:16 am

    • Plays outfield
Garcia started in right field and went 0-for-4 in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: This was Garcia's first start in the outfield since missing two games due to a forearm injury. He's gone 3-for-23 (.130) with a home run, a double and two RBI since his return. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:48 am

    • Out of Tuesday's lineup
Moore isn't in the Mariners' lineup Tuesday against the Astros.

Advice: Moore has been extremely hot at the plate lately, slashing an incredible .324/.489/.735 with three homers and seven RBI across his last 11 games. He'll get a breather against Hunter Brown and the Astros while Luke Raley, Julio Rodriguez and Dominic Canzone start across the outfield with Mitch Haniger in as the DH. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 6:02 pm

    • Dealing with back tightness
Carter was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with lower-back tightness, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 21-year-old missed some time in mid-May due to a back issue, and it apparently remains bothersome as the month comes to a close. Carter is without a hit in his past 20 at-bats, and the injury could help explain some of those struggles. It's unclear how long the young outfielder is expected to be sidelined, but the organization will likely want him to get some at-bats in the minors before he rejoins the big club. • Slumping Evan Carter hits IL with back tightness
Rangers placed OF Evan Carter on the 10-day injured list with a back sprain.

Advice: Carter will ostensibly swap places with fellow top prospect Wyatt Langford as he’ll get some extra time off in an effort to reset mentally after batting just .165 (15-for-91) with three homers and one steal over his last 30 contests. The 21-year-old top prospect hits the shelf in the midst of an 0-for-20 hitless streak at the dish dating back to May 10. It’s far too early to be concerned long-term with Carter, but this season has certainly been an unexpected speed bump following last year’s stellar late-season debut and playoff performance. • Headed to injured list
The Rangers will place Carter (undisclosed) on the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Carter has missed some time this month with a back issue, although it's unclear whether that's the injury that's sending him to the IL. The young outfielder is hitless over his last nine contests and has struggled mightily so far this season, slashing just .188/.272/.361. It's not clear how long Carter might be sidelined. • Climbs above .200 again
Rafaela went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Rafaela's eighth-inning double put him in position to score the winning run. He has multiple hits in two straight games and has gone 7-for-22 (.318) over the last six. That's pushed his batting average to .208, the third time he's climbed above the Mendoza Line this season. Rafaela is a bit of conundrum. He leads the Red Sox in RBI (28) and is fifth in extra-base hits (16), but he's not exactly a good hitter. Boston manager Alex Cora told Alex Speier of The Boston Globe that Rafaela has "big moves" in his swing as he tries to hit for power -- how he loads the swing, the leg kick and the swing itself. For long-term success, Cora believes Rafaela needs to shorten his swing. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:45 am

    • Slump continues
Carter went 0-for-2 in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Twins.

Advice: Carter's hitless run reached 20 consecutive at-bats, and he's just two for his last 38. With Wyatt Langford (hamstring) possibly set to return Tuesday, the Rangers could send Carter back down to the minors to fix whatever is not working for him right now. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:10 am

    • Sitting vs. southpaw
Mullins is out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the White Sox.

Advice: With the White Sox sending left-hander Garrett Crochet to the mound Sunday, the lefty-hitting Mullins will take a seat for the second straight game. Mullins pinch hit in the seventh inning in Saturday's 5-3 win, striking out in his only at-bat. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:13 am
