      Musgrove (elbow) threw a "light" bullpen session Monday, MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Musgrove completed his first bullpen session since going on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow inflammation in early May. The right-hander is expected to throw another side session Wednesday, and if that goes well, he could return to the Padres rotation without needing a rehab stint.       Mets optioned RHP José Buttó to Triple-A Syracuse.

      Advice: This is a surprise, but the Mets needed a starter for today (Joey Lucchesi, who is coming up from Triple-A) and the team just doesn’t have many optionable pitchers; it was just Buttó, Christian Scott and Reed Garrett. Buttó, who was 1-3 with a 3.08 ERA in seven starts, might rejoin the rotation in 10 days, though the Mets will also have Tylor Megill and David Peterson as rotation candidates then.       The Mets optioned Butto to Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday.

      Advice: Butto mostly pitched well in seven starts for the Mets, but he's had trouble throwing strikes in his last five outings, walking 17 over 26 innings.     • Gives up one hit in loss
      Butto (1-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Phillies, allowing two runs on one hit and four walks over five innings. He struck out four.

      Advice: Butto was sharp for most of the day, though he hit a rough patch in the third inning -- the right-hander loaded the bases with two outs before hitting Alec Bohm with a pitch and walking Brandon Marsh. The two runs proved to be more than enough to stick Butto with the loss, as the Mets couldn't get anything going against Aaron Nola in a 4-0 shutout defeat. The 26-year-old Butto's allowed just six runs in his last three starts (16 innings), though he's gone 1-2 in that span. Overall, his ERA sits at a solid 3.08 through his first 38 innings this year with a 1.13 WHIP and 38:21 K:BB. Butto's currently in line for a road start early next week against the Guardians.       José Buttó held the Phillies to two runs and one hit over five innings in a loss Tuesday.

      Advice: The walks are really starting to pile up for Buttó now, but he’s remained tough to hit; the league is batting just .171 against him in his seven starts. He issued four free passes today, giving up nearly as many walks (21) as hits allowed (22) over his 38 innings.       Bibee allowed three hits and two walks over 5.1 scoreless innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out four during the win over Texas.

      Advice: Bibee failed to complete six innings for the third consecutive start, but this time it was simply due to a high pitch count. He was tagged with 10 runs in his previous two starts but bounced back with his second scoreless start of the year. Bibee retired the first 11 batters Monday before tailing off a bit near the end of his start, leaving the game after loading the bases in the sixth inning.       Tanner Bibee threw 5 1/3 innings of shutout ball in a no-decision in the Guardians’ 7-0 victory over the Rangers on Monday.

      Advice: Bibee allowed three hits, two walks and struck out four in the contest. Guardians manager Stephen Vogt removed Bibee from the game with the bases loaded in the sixth inning. Reliever Nick Sandlin escaped the jam without any runs scoring, preserving Bibee’s ERA. His ERA is 4.34 on the season. The 25-year-old right-hander is set to face the Twins at home this weekend.       Eflin (3-4) earned the win Monday, allowing three runs on six hits while not walking a batter over five innings against the Red Sox. He struck out two.

      Advice: Eflin was able to grind through five innings, tossing 91 pitches to earn the win for the second-consecutive start. After being staked with a three-run lead before ever taking the hill, Eflin allowed a three-run homer to Tyler O'Neill in the bottom of the first that tied the score. Despite the elevated pitch count through five, Eflin managed to keep the Red Sox off the board throughout the remainder of his start and did not allow a free pass in the process. Eflin will carry a 3.91 ERA and 1.13 WHIP into his next start, tentatively slated to take place over the weekend when the Rays travel to Toronto for a three-game set against the division-rival Blue Jays.       Zach Eflin gave up three runs over five innings on Monday in a win over the Red Sox.

      Advice: Eflin was tagged for a three-run blast by Tyler O’Neill in the opening frame, but managed to settle in afterwards, keeping Boston’s lineup scoreless for the remainder of his abbreviated outing at Fenway Park. He struck out two and didn’t hand out a free pass for the sixth time in his last seven starts. The 30-year-old control artist will bring a respectable 3.91 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 41/4 K/BB ratio across 53 innings (nine starts) into a road matchup on Saturday against the division-rival Blue Jays.
