    • Starting at DH amid stiffness
Marte is starting at designated hitter Saturday for the second day in a row due to his body feeling a little stiff, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Advice: He socked his eighth home run of the season Friday to extend his hit streak to 11 games. Marte should return to the keystone once he feels right. Blaze Alexander has started each of the last two games at second base. Rotowire.com Today, 11:49 am

    • Jameson Taillon questionable for Sunday start
Jameson Taillon is dealing with renewed back discomfort and might not start Sunday’s series final against the Pirates.

Advice: Taillon will test his back on Saturday to determine whether he’ll take the ball for Sunday’s series finale against the Pirates. The 32-year-old, who missed the first couple weeks of the season due to a back strain, felt something in his back while warming up earlier this week for a bullpen session, which led to his start being pushed back from Friday to later this weekend. There should be some clarity on his status at some point prior to Sunday’s showdown. Rotoworld Today, 6:57 am

    • Swats eighth homer
Marte went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Orioles.

Advice: He took Cole Irvin deep in the third inning, giving Marte his eighth homer of the season and third in the last five games. The 30-year-old second baseman also extended his hitting streak to 11 games with the solo shot, but he's batting just .261 (12-for-46) during that stretch as he's managed only one multi-hit performance. • Fans seven in return
Marsh did not factor into the decision Friday against the Angels, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Marsh (elbow) looked sharp in his return from the injured list, tossing 85 pitches (59 strikes). The Kansas City right-hander lowered his ERA to 2.53 with the effort, maintaining his momentum after he tossed 10 shutout innings in his last two outings before the injured list stint. Marsh is scheduled to make his next start against the Mariners on the road. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:50 pm
    • Hit hard Friday
Blackburn (3-2) took the loss Friday versus the Mariners, allowing seven runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five over four-plus innings.

Advice: Blackburn cruised through the Mariners' lineup once, but couldn't do it a second time. He ran into trouble in the fourth inning and allowed three straight batters to reach to begin the fifth before Tyler Ferguson was brought on in relief. This is the second time in three outings Blackburn has been hit hard, and it's concerning this one came against an offense as pedestrian as Seattle's. Blackburn has a 4.11 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 36:13 K:BB through 46 innings across eight starts this season. The right-hander is lined up to make his next start on the road in Houston. • Paul Blackburn struggles over four in loss to SEA
Paul Blackburn was charged for seven runs in four-plus innings to pick up a loss to the Mariners on Friday.

Advice: Blackburn was fine over the first three innings, but he was lit for five runs in the third, and two more were charged to him after he exited the game. The right-hander was outstanding against the Marlins on Saturday, but this was the 30-year-old at his worst. A chance to rebound for Blackburn comes next week against the Astros. • Alec Marsh holds Angels to one run with seven Ks
Alec Marsh struck out seven while allowing just one run over 5 1/3 innings against the Angels on Friday while not factoring in the decision.

Advice: Marsh’s only run allowed came on a Jo Adell solo blast in the fifth. Unfortunately, that was the only run scored while either he or Griffin Canning was in the game, so no win for the 25-year-old in his return from the injured list. This was far from the toughest lineup that Marsh will face, but he did look solid while pitching into the sixth inning and throwing 85 pitches. He’ll get back on the mound in Seattle against the Mariners on Wednesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:18 pm
    • Lasts 4.1 innings vs. Pittsburgh
Assad didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Pirates, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: After the Pirates scored twice in the first inning, Assad delivered 3.1 scoreless frames before he was ultimately pulled after 89 pitches (53 strikes). The 26-year-old hasn't allowed more than one earned run in five straight starts, and he's 3-0 with a 1.70 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB across 42.1 innings this season. The Mexican-born right-hander is currently slated for a road matchup with Atlanta in his next outing. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:04 pm
    • Javier Assad lifted in fifth against Pirates
Javier Assad was lifted after allowing two runs — one earned — in 4 1/3 innings Friday against the Pirates.

Advice: Assad was pulled from a 2-2 game after giving up a single with one out in the fifth. He pitched rather well tonight in striking out four and giving up four hard-hit balls and four hits, but his pitch count was driven up by some long at-bats. While his ERA stands at 1.70, he’s completed six innings just twice. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:47 pm
