Cease (4-2) earned the win Friday against the Diamondbacks, allowing one run, three hits and no walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Cease continued his brilliant start to the season Friday night, generating 18 whiffs en route to eight strikeouts. The erstwhile White Sox pitcher appears to have re-found his 2022 form, pitching to the tune of a 2.55 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 48:14 K:BB over 42.1 innings. Cease looks to keep it rolling in his next start, scheduled against the Cubs in Chicago. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:10 pm

    • Dylan Cease pitches into seventh to get fourth win
Dylan Cease allowed just a run in 6 2/3 innings against the Diamondbacks on Friday while picking up a win.

Advice: Cease was able to pick up his fourth win of the season with the victory. The right-hander picked up eight strikeouts in the process while not issuing any walks. When the 28-year-old throws strikes, he’s one of the toughest pitchers to have success against, and Friday was a good example of that. He’ll look to repeat his success against the Cubs next week. • Mike Trout undergoes successful knee surgery
Mike Trout underwent successful surgery on Friday to repair the meniscus tear in his left knee.

Advice: Officially, Trout underwent a partial medial meniscectomy. While there’s still no official timetable for his return, the Angels remain optimistic that he’ll be able to return to the lineup at some point during the 2024 season. Unfortunately, that leaves fantasy managers in leagues without injured list spots having to carry a zero on the bench for an indefinite amount of time, or risk the pain of throwing him back into the free agent pool and not being able to reacquire him when/if he does return. • May require rehab assignment
Manager Matt Quatraro said Friday that sending Marsh (elbow) on a rehab assignment before returning from the IL "would be a smart thing to do," Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Marsh has been on the injured list since April 25 due to a bruised right elbow. He threw a bullpen session Monday and did so again Friday, though he will likely need to face live hitters before he makes his rehab appearance. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:46 pm

    • Sitting Friday
Heim is out of the lineup for Friday's game at Kansas City.

Advice: Heim started the previous six games and will receive a day off after going 4-for-19 with no extra-base hits during that span. Andrew Knizner will step in behind the plate to catch Michael Lorenzen. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:31 pm

    • Jeffrey Springs tabbed for spring game on May 20
Jeffrey Springs (elbow) is set to pitch in an extended spring training game for the Rays on May 20.

Advice: It’ll be the first time that the 31-year-old southpaw will see live game action since undergoing Tommy John surgery. He’ll probably do that a couple of times before starting a lengthy minor league rehab assignment. If all goes according to plan, Springs could be an option to join the Rays’ rotation at some point around the All-Star break. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:29 pm

    • Undergoes surgery
Trout underwent surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee Friday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The three-time American League MVP suffered the injury Monday against the Phillies, and there wasn't much of a delay before he went under the knife. Trout remains without an official timeline for his return, but he'll rehab in Anaheim for the foreseeable future and should be considered out indefinitely. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:40 pm

    • Throwing in spring game
Springs is scheduled to throw in an extended spring game May 20, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Springs will take another step forward in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, making his first -- albeit unofficial -- game action since April of 2023. Still, Springs seems to be on track for a return in July or August, a goal the Rays set for Springs back in February. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:23 pm

    • Out against left-hander
Winker is not in the lineup for Friday's tilt versus the Blue Jays.

Advice: Left-hander Yusei Kikuchi is starting or the Jays on Friday and he's limited left-handed batters to just a .351 OPS this season. Meanwhile, the lefty-hitting Winker has a .505 OPS against southpaws in 2024. Ildemaro Vargas is in left field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:22 pm
