    • Gets rest for series finale
Jansen is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Twins.

Advice: Jansen will sit for the series finale Sunday while Alejandro Kirk starts behind the dish and bats eighth against Twins right-hander Bailey Ober. Since May 1, Jansen has gone 10-for-28 with four doubles, two home runs and four RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:56 am

    • Two-run blast in loss
Diaz went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Giants.

Advice: Diaz drove in Colorado's third run of the game with an infield single in the bottom of the fifth and later added a two-run shot in the ninth to bring his team back within two runs of the Giants, though his effort would fall short. It marked the catcher's third multi-hit game already this month, and he's now hit safely in five of his last six contests. The home run was only Diaz's third of the season, though he's now batting .348 in May with four RBI and three extra-base hits. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:25 am
    • Elias Díaz homers, drives in three against Giants
Elias Díaz went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI against the Giants on Wednesday.

Advice: Díaz brought a run in to score with a base hit in the fifth inning. With a runner on and two outs in the ninth, he brought the Rockies to within two with a home run off Camilo Doval. The 33-year-old catcher is slashing a solid .303/.354/.435 with three homers and 18 RBI across 127 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:31 pm
    • Hits in batting cage
Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Wednesday that Murphy (oblique) has progressed to hitting in the batting cage, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Murphy's recovery from a Grade 1 left oblique strain has inched along at a snail's pace, but he's finally making noteworthy progress. Given that he's already missed nearly six weeks of action, he will no doubt require a handful of minor-league rehab games before returning from the 10-day injured list. • Sean Murphy (oblique) starts hitting in cage
Braves’ manager Brian Snitker told reporters on Wednesday that Sean Murphy (oblique) has progressed to hitting in the batting cages.

Advice: The 29-year-old backstop continues his slow and methodical progress in his return from a Grade 1 oblique strain. It sounds like a minor league rehab stint could be on the horizon soon, though it remains unclear how many games he’ll need there to get his timing back before he’s ready to rejoin the Braves. Travis d’Arnaud will continue holding down the fort for the time being. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:35 pm

    • Danny Jansen has two hits in loss
Danny Jansen went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored in a loss to the Phillies on Tuesday.

Advice: Jansen was the only Blue Jay to post multiple hits, lacing a 102.9 mph double and also picking up a 91.7 mph single. The only time he was retired was on a 106.3 mph lineout that had a .660 xBA. Jansen has been good since coming off the IL and is now hitting .325/.426/.700. Given how poorly the rest of the lineup is hitting, Jansen should be in the lineup on most days for the foreseeable future. Rotoworld Tuesday, 6:43 pm

    • Gets stitches removed
Alvarez had the stitches removed Monday from his surgically repaired left thumb, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Alvarez underwent surgery April 23 to address a torn UCL in the thumb on his glove hand. At the time his surgery was performed, the Mets estimated that Alvarez would need eight weeks to make a full recovery, so he appears unlikely to return from the injured list until around late June. A more precise target date for his return should come into focus once he resumes taking batting practice and performing defensive drills. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:56 pm

    • Francisco Alvarez has stitches removed from thumb
Francisco Alvarez had the stitches from his surgically repaired left thumb removed Monday.

Advice: Alvarez is currently with the Mets to take part in the pitcher/catcher meetings according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. The backstop is two weeks into what is expected to be a two-month rehab after undergoing surgery to repair a torn UCL in his left thumb. If all continues to trend well, Alvarez could be back with the Mets around the All-Star break. Rotoworld Monday, 2:50 pm

    • Receiving breather Sunday
Jansen is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Jansen will get a routine maintenance day in the series finale after drawing starts at catcher in each of the Blue Jays' previous three games. Alejandro Kirk will check in for him behind the dish. Rotowire.com May 5, 10:06 am
