    • Collects three hits Saturday
Volpe went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base in a loss to Tampa Bay on Saturday.

Advice: Volpe was the only Yankee to stand out offensively in the loss -- he was responsible for three of the team's five hits, plated both of the club's runs on a second-inning single and added a stolen base to boot. The young shortstop has reached base safely via hit or walk in nine straight contests, slashing .286/.375/.486 with two homers, seven RBI, seven runs and a 5:11 BB:K over that span. After swiping 24 bags as a rookie last year, Volpe is on pace to exceed that mark with eight steals in nine attempts so far in 2024. Rotowire.com Today, 7:42 am
    • Anthony Volpe plates two runs in loss to Rays
Anthony Volpe went 3-for-4 and drove in both of the Yankees’ runs in Saturday’s loss to the Rays.

Advice: Volpe smacked a two-run single off of Zack Littell in the second inning that gave the Yankees a 2-1 advantage. That would wind up being the extent of their offensive output though. He also singled with two outs in the fifth inning and swiped second base, but the Yankees couldn’t cash him in. Volpe got his third knock off of Jason Adam in the seventh. With his three-hit attack, the 23-year-old shortstop is now hitting .268/.354/.408 with five homers, 20 RBI and eight stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:27 pm
    • Jake Cronenworth sits against Dodgers on Saturday
Jake Cronenworth is not in the Padres’ starting lineup for Saturday night’s tilt against the Dodgers.

Advice: A night after Cronenworth saw his 12-game hitting streak snapped, he’ll get a breather with left-hander James Paxton toeing the slab for the Dodgers. Luis Arraez will cover for him at first base while Jurickson Profar moves up to the third spot in the Padres’ lineup. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:26 pm

    • Riding pine vs. lefty
Cronenworth is not in Saturday's lineup against the Dodgers.

Advice: Cronenworth will head to the bench with lefty James Paxton on the hill for Los Angeles. Donovan Solano is starting at third base while Luis Arraez starts at first base and Manny Machado gets the nod at designated hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:12 pm

    • Starting at DH on Saturday
Grissom will be the designated hitter and bat fifth in Saturday's game against the Nationals, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: With Grissom shifting to DH on Saturday, David Hamilton will start at second base. Since making his Red Sox debut May 3, Grissom is 3-for-21 with one double and two RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:46 am

    • Cleared for throwing
McLain (shoulder) was cleared Friday to throw and run, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: McLain could start swinging a bat in about six weeks, which the infielder said would help determine a clearer timeline to complete his rehab. Both McLain and manager David Bell reaffirmed the goal for McLain to return this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:04 am

    • Not starting against Yankees
Rosario is out of the starting lineup for Friday's matchup against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: The 28-year-old infielder has been seeing regular action at second base recently as the Rays remain without Brandon Lowe (oblique), but Rosario will begin the game in the dugout Friday. He currently sports a .301 batting average with two homers, five steals, 11 runs and 15 RBI. Richie Palacios will get the start at second base Friday and bat seventh in the lineup. • Goes deep in loss
Volpe went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Astros on Thursday.

Advice: Volpe accounted for New York's first scores with a two-run blast to right field in the third inning. It was his second homer in his past three contests following a 25-game stretch during which he went deep just once. Volpe is still batting just .200 through eight games in May, but he's held onto the leadoff spot, batting first in the order in all of the Yankees' contests so far this month. • Anthony Volpe crushes two-run homer in loss
Anthony Volpe went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer on Thursday in the Yankees’ loss to the Astros.

Advice: Volpe connected for a two-run opposite-field shot into the right-field corner off Astros starter Ronel Blanco in the third inning. It was his fifth round-tripper of the season and second time he’s left the yard in his last three contests. The 23-year-old shortstop has made an effort to flatten his swing and employ an all-fields approach this season, but is still hitting for some over-the-fence pop, while also significantly improving his batting average.
