• Excluded from lineup vs. lefty
Benson (elbow) is out of the lineup Monday against the Pirates.

Advice: Benson will take a seat for the series opener versus the Pirates after he exited late in the Reds' 7-4 loss to the Red Sox on Sunday, when he was struck in the left elbow by a pitch. He's day-to-day after X-rays returned negative, but even if he was 100 percent, the lefty-hitting Benson likely would have been on the bench anyway with the Pirates sending southpaw Bailey Falter to the mound. Benson has recorded just four hits in 42 at-bats versus lefties this season. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:34 pm

  • Filling in for banged-up Varsho
Kiermaier will start in center field and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Kiermaier will get a third consecutive start, but he'll most likely be the odd man out of the Toronto outfield once Daulton Varsho (back) -- who is out of the lineup for a second straight day -- returns to action. Since returning from the injured list May 4, Kiermaier is slashing .177/.224/.329 over a stretch of 35 games. Rotowire.com Monday, 1:35 pm
  • X-rays on elbow negative
Benson was removed from Sunday's 7-4 loss to Boston after getting hit by a pitch on the inside of his left elbow, MLB.com reports. X-rays following the game came back negative.

Advice: Benson was plunked during the bottom of the eighth inning and stayed in the game to run, but he was replaced by Nick Martini for the top of the ninth. Prior to leaving, Benson went 0-for-3, running his hitless streak to a career-high 21 at-bats. It's unclear if the injury will force Benson to miss much action, but it's unlikely he will be in the lineup Monday against Pittsburgh left-hander Bailey Falter. The lefty-hitting Benson doesn't get many opportunities against southpaws, against whom he's batting .095 (4-for-42) this season. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:36 am

  • Headed for Triple-A Reno
Thomas (hamstring) will take live batting practice Monday then head to Triple-A Reno to continue a rehab assignment, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Thomas will be the hitter in a live BP session thrown by Zac Gallen (hamstring). Thomas' rehab assignment was paused the middle of last week then resumed over the weekend; he had six combined at-bats over two games in the Arizona Complex League and played seven innings in center field Saturday. He said the hamstring responded well to the activity, and the Diamondbacks decided to move his rehab to its Triple-A affiliate. Rotowire.com Monday, 4:53 am

  • Two doubles, steal in win
Bader went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, one stolen base and two runs scored in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Bader entered Sunday 0-for-9 over his last three games. He broke the drought with his fourth multi-hit effort over 17 contests in June. While he's hitting .255 (13-for-51) this month, eight of those knocks have gone for extra bases, and he's driven in 11 runs. The outfielder is slashing .268/.316/.388 with four home runs, 13 doubles, 27 RBI, 27 runs scored and 10 steals through 67 games this season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:27 pm
  • Extends hitting streak with homer
Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Nimmo has hit safely in nine straight games, going 16-for-37 (.432) in that span. He's turned up the power recently as well, slugging a homer in four of his last six contests to put him at 11 long balls on the year. The outfielder has added a .244/.358/.430 slash line with 43 RBI, 46 runs scored and five stolen bases across 72 games. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:19 pm

  • Homers in loss
Raley went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored in Sunday's loss to Miami.

Advice: Raley put the Mariners on the board with a two-run blast in the fourth inning. He entered Sunday's game in a 4-for-23 (.174) skid over his previous nine games. Raley has gone 16-for-59 (.271) with five home runs in 21 games this month. His season slash line is up to .263/.310/.463 with 18 extra-base hits and 22 RBI through 203 plate appearances. • Brandon Nimmo leaves the yard in victory over Cubs
Brandon Nimmo swatted a solo home run on Sunday night, helping to power the Mets to a victory over the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Advice: Brandon Nimmo slugged a solo homer in the third inning — going back-to-back with teammate Francisco Liriano off of Cubs’ starter Javier Assad. His 379-foot (101.3 mph EV) solo shot increased the Mets’ early lead to 3-0 and proved to be the difference in the ballgame. He finished the night 1-for-3 plus a walk and is now hitting .245/.360/.431 with 11 long balls, 43 RBI and five stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Sunday, 7:22 pm

  • Bryan Reynolds goes 2-for-3, hits 12th homer
Bryan Reynolds went 2-for-3 with a homer that accounted for Pittsburgh’s only run and a walk Sunday against the Rays.

Advice: The homer left his bat at just 90 mph, but aided by some wind, it got over the wall at PNC Park. Reynolds’ hitting streak is now at 20 games, and it includes three homers in his last four games. Today’s performance pushed his OPS over .800 for the first time since mid-April.
