• David Daniel to start Thursday for Angels
Davis Daniel was scratched from his Triple-A start and will pitch for the angels on Thursday.

Advice: The Angels are down bad in the rotation at the moment, so the 27-year-old Daniel will slot in tomorrow. The right-hander has a 5.33 ERA in 14 starts for Salt Lake, but that’s largely the product of a .378 BABIP. He’s struck out 82, walked 25 and allowed just five homers in 76 innings. • Alex Faedo (hip) begins rehab assignment
Alex Faedo retired two of the three batters he faced in his first rehab appearance for Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Advice: Faedo has been out for three weeks with hip inflammation. He should return to the Tigers pen in the near future. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:43 am

  • Cubs to start Hayden Wesneski on Wednesday
The Cubs will have Hayden Wesneski start Wednesday against the Giants.

Advice: It’ll be Hayden versus Hayden (Birdsong, the Giants’ pitcher making his MLB debut). Wesneski hasn’t thrown more than two innings since May 13, so this won’t be a particularly long start, especially if he doesn’t perform better than he has lately; he’s given up six runs and four homers over 7 1/3 innings in his last six appearances. • Phillies activate and option Yunior Marte to AAA
Phillies activated RHP Yunior Marte from the 15-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Advice: Marte will remain stationed in the minors as extra relief depth for Philadelphia after wrapping up an extended rehab assignment. The 29-year-old righty hit the injured list back in early May with right shoulder inflammation. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:17 pm
  • Third rehab outing coming
Faedo (hip) is scheduled to make his third rehab appearance for Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Advice: After tossing a scoreless inning in his first minor-league appearance, Faedo surrendered four hits, two walks and a run across 1.1 innings Saturday. He's been on the injured list since June 5 but is expected to rejoin the major-league roster soon. In fact, Tuesday's outing could be his last at Toledo. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:06 pm

  • Moved to 60-day IL
The Marlins transferred Sanchez (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Austin Kitchen, who was claimed off waivers. Sanchez had been hoping to be cleared to throw a bullpen session soon, but this move would seem to suggest that won't happen. The righty has been out since early June with right shoulder inflammation and now won't be eligible to return until the beginning of August at the earliest. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:48 pm

  • Marlins transfer RHP Sánchez (shoulder) to 60-day IL
Marlins transferred RHP Sixto Sánchez from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Sánchez is now off the 40-man roster, and wouldn’t be able to return to the Miami staff until August 2. The right-hander gets removed to clear room for Austin Kitchen, with Kitchen coming to Miami off waivers from the Rockies. Rotoworld Tuesday, 12:42 pm

  • Yency Almonte to seek second opinion on shoulder
Yency Almonte is struggling to progress in his recovery from a shoulder strain and is going for another opinion on the injury.

Advice: Almonte started throwing bullpens a couple of weeks ago, but his arm wasn’t responding as hoped and he’s been shut down again now. The right-hander has been sidelined since May 8 because of the injury. Rotoworld Monday, 5:57 pm

  • Suffers setback
Almonte suffered a setback in his ramp-up from a strained right shoulder, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Almonte and the Cubs have been forced to "press pause" on his recovery, according to manager Craig Counsell. The team is expected to seek another opinion on the right-hander's shoulder and his status moving forward appears to be up in the air for the time being. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:48 pm
