    • Jon Gray fans seven in seven fine innings
Jon Gray held the Royals to two runs in seven innings and struck out seven on Sunday.

Advice: Gray got 17 missed swings today, including 13 on just 34 sliders, and walked none in another excellent outing. Since giving up five runs in his season debut, he’s allowed a total of four earned runs in 36 innings, leaving him with a 2.50 ERA. If history repeats, he’s about due for an injury... it often seems to happen after his stronger stretches like this. Hopefully, that won’t be the case this time around. • Smacks homer No. 8
Naylor went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run during Sunday's 4-1 win over the Angels.

Advice: Naylor entered Sunday's game 2-for-19 in his past five games but broke out of the cold spell with a 410-foot homer in the eighth inning off Matt Moore. With eight home runs through 32 games, Naylor is well on his way to a career high in the category -- his current top mark is 20 home runs over 122 games in 2022. He boasts a monstrous .263 ISO this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:38 pm

    • Quality start versus Royals
Gray pitched seven innings, surrendering two runs on seven hits while striking out seven batters in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Royals. He did not factor into the decision.

Advice: Gray was tagged early Sunday, giving up a run in the first inning and then another in the bottom of the third frame on an RBI double by Vinnie Pasquantino. He finished his outing with four scoreless frames, securing his second straight quality start. Gray now owns a 2.50 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 42 strikeouts over 39.2 innings in eight starts this season, and he's tentatively set to return to the mound Saturday against the Rockies for a road matchup against his former team. • Spencer Torkelson has two doubles, RBI in loss
Spencer Torkelson went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI as the Tigers fell to the Yankees on Sunday afternoon in New York.

Advice: Torkelson smacked a two-out double off of Nestor Cortes in the second inning, but was left stranded there. He then got the Tigers on the board with a run-scoring double off of Ian Hamilton in the seventh inning. He’s still searching for his first home run of the season, but he does have 11 doubles and perhaps his bat is finally showing some signs of life. On the season, he’s slashing .216/.283/.304 with 12 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:05 pm
    • Nico Hoerner leads Cubs past Brewers on Sunday
Nico Hoerner doubled and drove in a pair of runs on Sunday, propelling the Cubs to a 5-0 victory over the visiting Brewers.

Advice: Hoerner opened the scoring in the ballgame with a two-run double off of Freddy Peralta in the home half of the fifth inning. He then advanced to third on a ground ball and dashed home on a wild pitch with the Cubs’ third run of the day. The speedy 26-year-old infielder finished the afternoon 1-for-5 and is now hitting .282/.358/.397 with one home run, 10 RBI and four swipes through his first 34 games of the 2024 season. • Jackson Chourio goes hitless in loss to Cubs
Jackson Chourio went 0-for-2 and was pinch-hit for in the seventh inning as the Brewers were shut out by the Cubs on Sunday afternoon.

Advice: The 20-year-old phenom fouled out to first base in the third inning and bounced into a fielder’s choice in the fifth inning. While he has shown flashes of greatness, it has been a struggle overall through his first 30 games — slashing a troublesome .219/.265/.352 with four homers, 13 RBI, six stolen bases and a 35/7 K/BB ratio over 114 plate appearances. It seems like the Brewers are content sticking with him and letting him take his lumps at the big league level, but if the struggles continue at this rate, eventually something may have to give. • Edouard Julien fans three times in defeat
Edouard Julien struck out all three times he was up before being replaced Sunday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Julien had a great stretch towards the end of last month to push his OPS up to .890, but he’s back down to .795 now after going 1-for-18 with 11 strikeouts in his last seven games. He does have six walks during that span, but he hasn’t scored a single run. It’s going to be tough to justify using him in shallow leagues if he’s a platoon player not hitting for average or stealing many bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:24 pm

    • Josh Naylor hits eighth homer against Angels
Josh Naylor went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer against the Angels on Sunday.

Advice: That’s eight homers and 26 RBI in 32 games for Naylor. He’s fifth in the AL in both categories (tied for fifth in homers). Maybe he won’t keep up the home run pace, but he should boast exceptional RBI numbers throughout. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:21 pm

    • Out of Sunday's lineup
Moreno is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Moreno started the first two games of the series and will sit Sunday afternoon after going 2-for-7 with an RBI. Tucker Barnhart will step in behind the plate and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:05 pm
