    • Returns to Triple-A
The Cardinals optioned Scott to Triple-A Memphis on Friday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: The 23-year-old was called up to serve as the 27th man for Thursday's game at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama, and he'll head back to Memphis after appearing as a defensive replacement. Scott has a .550 OPS in 45 games at Triple-A since being demoted in late April. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago
    • Twins recalled LHP Kody Funderburk from Triple-A
Twins recalled LHP Kody Funderburk from Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: Funderburk will take Jay Jackson’s spot in the Twins bullpen after Jackson was designated for assignment. Funderburk has a 5.18 ERA and SO:BB of 23:12 in 19 appearances with Minnesota this year. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago
    • Goes back to minors
The Cardinals optioned Kloffenstein to Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

Advice: Kloffenstein turned in a 1-2-3 inning in his major-league debut Thursday versus the Giants to help out a depleted Cardinals bullpen but will quickly head back to Memphis. The big righty will re-enter Memphis' starting rotation, where he's collected a 3.97 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through 77 innings across 14 starts. Rotowire.com 11 minutes ago
    • Returns from injured list
The Cardinals activated Gallegos (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Friday.

Advice: St. Louis has a rare Friday off day, but it will have Gallegos back in its bullpen Saturday versus the Giants. The veteran reliever has been out since early May with a right shoulder impingement and didn't pitch well on a rehab assignment, allowing eight runs with a 5:4 K:BB over 6.1 innings. Gallegos will probably be eased into high-leverage situations. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago
    • Blue Jays optioned RHP Ryan Burr to Triple-A
Blue Jays optioned RHP Ryan Burr to Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: Burr was sent to the minors as the corresponding move for the Blue Jays activating Yariel Rodriguez. The 30-year-old right-hander has a 4.91 ERA in three appearances with Toronto this season and a 2.21 ERA in 18 minor league appearances. Burr will be an option for Toronto again this season when the Blue Jays decide they need a fresh bullpen arm. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago

    • Blows save chance Thursday
Estrada (3-1) blew a save but was credited with the win in Thursday's victory versus the Brewers. He allowed two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out three batters over one inning.

Advice: Primary closer Robert Suarez had pitched on back-to-back days, so San Diego turned to Estrada with a two-run lead in the ninth inning, though the latter had taken the mound on consecutive days as well. Estrada couldn't close things out, giving up a pair of runs on a walk, a single, a wild pitch and a double. To his credit, the right-hander kept the game tied by striking out the final two batters he faced, and he ended up in the win column when Jake Cronenworth smacked a walk-off home run in the bottom of the frame. Though Estrada continues to rack up punchouts -- of his past 13 outs, 12 have come via strikeout -- he's been struggling of late, giving up eight runs on 10 hits and three walks over that span of five outings. • Blue Jays activated Yariel Rodriguez from IL
Blue Jays activated RHP Yariel Rodriguez from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Rodriguez will start Friday night’s game against the Guardians. He made four starts with Toronto earlier this season and had a 4.11 ERA and 1.76 WHIP. Rodriguez never pitched more than four innings in any of his starts. The 27-year-old right-hander is off the fantasy radar until he can he work deeper into games. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago
    • Sees time at hot corner Thursday
Diaz drew a start at third base in Thursday's loss to the Royals, going 1-for-2 before being lifted for a pinch hitter in the seventh inning.

Advice: The veteran drew only his fifth start of June and delivered his third hit of the season across 24 plate appearances. Diaz began the month logging what was a third straight start at the time, but his sparse playing time since and advanced age may imply he's not much longer for the roster of an Athletics team that will increasingly focus on developing young players as the remainder of the season unfolds. • Pushed back to next week
Peterson will no longer start Sunday versus the Cubs after being pushed back in the Mets' rotation, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: It's not clear when Peterson's next start will come, but it now figures to be early next week against the Yankees. Luis Severino has been bumped up to start Sunday in Chicago on regular rest. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago
