Raley (shoulder) will bat fifth and play left field Saturday against Minnesota.

Advice: Raley was held out of the starting nine for back-to-back games with shoulder soreness, but he's feeling good enough to start Saturday. He entered Friday's 3-2 win as a pinch runner in the eighth inning and put down a sacrifice bunt in his lone plate appearance. Rotowire.com 26 minutes ago

    • Sonny Gray chased early in loss to Reds
Sonny Gray allowed six runs -- three earned -- with six strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Reds on Saturday.

Advice: Gray had worked through two scoreless innings to start the game before the Reds strung together three straight doubled to start the third inning, driving in two runs. A triple, a walk, and a hit batter loaded the bases with one out in the fifth. A fielding error would bring a run in and keep the bases loaded as Gray was relieved at 92 pitches. All inherited runners would come in to score. The 34-year-old right-hander will look to put this one behind him when he takes a 2.98 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and a 109/23 K/BB ratio across 87 2/3 innings into a road start against the Nationals on Friday. • Trio of hits in loss
Fry went 3-for-4 with two doubles in Friday's 10-3 loss to the Royals.

Advice: Fry is 12-for-40 (.300) over his last 12 contests, adding five doubles and two RBI in that span. That's a bit less all-around production than he was showing earlier in the campaign, but it's still a solid showing. He's now at a .316/.422/.532 slash line with eight home runs, 32 RBI, 28 runs scored, four stolen bases and 13 doubles through 60 games. Fry has mostly seen time at designated hitter and catcher recently, but he could also be an option in right field while Will Brennan (ribs) is on the injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:58 pm

    • Earns 18th save
Kimbrel earned a save against the Rangers on Friday, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Kimbrel was called upon to protect a 2-1 lead in the ninth inning and did so with two strikeouts and a groundout. The veteran has rebounded from a blown save June 19 with two straight scoreless conversions. On the season, he is 18-for-22 in save chances with a 2.45 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 44:12 K:BB over 29.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:05 pm
    • X-rays negative
X-rays on Vasquez's right forearm came back negative after he was removed from Friday's game versus Boston, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: A 98-mph line drive off the bat of Ceddanne Rafaela struck Vasquez's arm in the fifth inning, forcing him to leave the game after four-plus innings of one-run ball. The 25-year-old said after the game that he's dealing with a bit of swelling, but he seemed optimistic about his chances to make his next start -- tentatively scheduled for Thursday against the Rangers. • Nick Gonzales doubles in loss
Nick Gonzales went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a stolen base on Friday against the Braves.

Advice: The double was Gonzales’ first extra-base hit in 12 games after smacking 12 in his first 30 contests this season. He’s still been a regular in the Pirates’ lineup despite the recent lack of power. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:09 pm
    • Craig Kimbrel nails down another save
Craig Kimbrel struck out two Rangers in a clean ninth innings to earn the save for Baltimore on Friday.

Advice: Kimbrel has been nails of late. He’s converted 11 of his last 12 save chances and allowed just one earned run since May 10th. He’s been one of the best and most surprising closers in baseball this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:44 pm
    • Randy Vásquez diagnosed with forearm contusion
Randy Vásquez was diagnosed with right forearm contusion after being hit by a line drive during Friday night’s start against the Red Sox.

Advice: Fortunately, it sounds like the 25-year-old hurler was able to avoid any serious injury after being struck by a Ceddanne Rafaela line drive to open the fifth inning on Friday. Unfortunately, his early exit from the game did cost him a victory. He should be able to make his next scheduled turn in the Padres’ rotation on Thursday against the Rangers in Texas. • Struck by comebacker, exits early
Vasquez was removed from his start Friday against the Red Sox after getting hit in the right forearm by a comebacker, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Vasquez took a 98-mph line drive off his forearm during the fifth inning of Friday's contest, and he was taken out of the game after conferring with a trainer. He'll be sent for imaging, and the Padres should have an update on the severity of his injury in the near future. The 25-year-old righty had allowed one earned run on five hits and a walk while striking out one batter over four innings before being taken out of the game. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:17 pm
