• Shaky in return
Carrasco (2-5) came away with the loss Sunday against Washington, allowing five earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five over four innings.

Advice: Carrasco made his first start since May 15 after a minimum-length stint on the 15-day injured list due to neck spasms. Carrasco's struggles continued Sunday, as he lost his third straight outing and allowed five or more earned runs for the third time in his last six starts. The 37-year-old veteran has eaten up innings for Cleveland this season but has not delivered for fantasy managers, posting a 5.66 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across 49.1 frames. He will look to turn things around in his next start, tentatively scheduled for next weekend in Miami. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:04 pm
  • Alex Cobb (shoulder) nearing bullpen session
Alex Cobb (shoulder) has reportedly had a breakthrough with the nerve issue he has been battling, as he’s now pain-free and close to throwing a bullpen session.

Advice: The 36-year-old hurler is expected to throw a bullpen session during the team’s next homestand with an eye on potentially rejoining the Giants’ rotation at some point in July. He’s already had plenty of setbacks this season, but Cobb seems cautiously optimistic that he’s on the road to recovery this time. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:35 pm

  • Clear of shoulder pain
Cobb (hip/shoulder) said Sunday he's no longer feeling pain in his right shoulder and is "cautiously optimistic" he can throw a bullpen session during the Giants' next homestand, which begins June 10, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: The veteran right-hander received a cortisone injection for his shoulder in mid-May, but what actually helped him turn a corner with his nerve discomfort was taking a nerve medication. Cobb will need significant time to build up his throwing program, and he shouldn't be expected to make his season debut until sometime in July, at least. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:24 pm

  • Nastrini struggles in loss to Brewers
Nick Nastrini allowed four runs on three hits and three walks in four innings in a loss to the Brewers on Sunday.

Advice: Nastrini threw first-pitch strikes to just six of the 18 batters he faced and struggled to locate any of his pitches other than the slider. He did get six whiffs on 23 swings on the slider, but that was the only pitch he had working. The rookie now has a 9.74 ERA and remains off the fantasy radar, even next week against the Red Sox. • Andrew Heaney stifles Marlins in win on Sunday
Andrew Heaney threw six shutout innings in a 6-0 win over the Marlins on Sunday.

Advice: The left-hander allowed just four hits and struck out seven while walking none. Heaney leaned heavily on his slider and change-up, getting a 42 percent whiff rate or higher on both pitches despite not throwing either one in the zone more than 40 percent of the time. It may have mainly been about who he was facing, but fantasy managers with Heaney won’t complain. The let-hander now has a 3.99 ERA on the year and could keep it going next week in a decent start against the Giants. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:43 pm

  • Trevor Rogers goes six innings in loss to Rangers
Trevor Rogers allowed four runs on six hits in six innings in a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

Advice: It wasn’t an awful outing for Rogers, who allowed three runs on four hits in the first inning before settling down. He threw four straight scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, before giving up a solo home run to Adolis Garcia in the sixth inning. On the day, Rogers had 12 whiffs on 44 swings for a 27 percent whiff rate and 23 percent CSW. The left-hander has a 5.68 ERA on the year but could be an interesting streamer in deeper leagues against the Guardians next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:34 pm
  • Luis Medina solid in season debut
Luis Media struck out six Braves across 5 2/3 innings on Sunday in his season debut. He allowed just one run and walked two in a no-decision.

Advice: Medina had been sidelined with a knee injury but looked to already be in mid-season form Sunday. His curveball looked different than it did last season - dropping three inches less and coming in two ticks harder. Atlanta swung and missed six times against it and Medina mixed it well against hitters from both sides of the plate. Also importantly, Medina issued just two walks after an 11.5 BB% held him back in 2023. He’s worth keeping an eye on. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:24 pm

  • Carlos Carrasco allows five runs in four innings
Carlos Carrasco pitched five innings on Sunday against the Nationals. He struck out five, walked one, and allowed five earned runs in a loss.

Advice: The Nationals jumped on Carrasco for a four-run second inning and did not look back. Carrasco still missed plenty of bats - 13 total whiffs, six on his changeup alone - despite being hit hard. He is not a viable streaming option even in the deepest of leagues. • Kicks off rehab assignment
Silseth (elbow) threw three scoreless innings Friday, allowing one hit and striking out three batters in a rehab appearance with the Angels' Arizona Complex League team.

Advice: Silseth looked good in the outing and threw 23 of his 39 pitches for strikes. The right-hander has been on the shelf since April 8 but is nearing eligibility to return from the 60-day IL. Silseth will almost certainly need at least one, and likely multiple, additional rehab starts before he's ready to be activated. With the struggling Reid Detmers demoted to the minors Saturday, there is a space in the big-league rotation available for Silseth upon his return. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:24 am
