    • Nestor Cortes blanks O’s for six innings in win
Nestor Cortes pitched six scoreless innings while striking out six to earn the win on Tuesday against the Orioles.

Advice: Cortes needed 25 pitches to get through the first inning, thanks in part to back-to-back singles by Adley Rutschman and Ryan Mountcastle. He would eventually settle in to pitch six scoreless innings without walking a batter. The five hits Cortes allowed all came on singles as he did everything within reason to hold a powerful Orioles lineup in check. Cortes has been feisty at home all season and draws another home start on Sunday against the Braves. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:16 pm
    • Schwellenbach strikes out 7 in win over Tigers
Spencer Schwellenbach allowed one earned run over six innings while picking up the win on Tuesday against the Tigers.

Advice: Schwellenbach turned in his best performance of the season on Tuesday to earn his first career win. In addition to striking out a season-high seven batters, Schwellenbach also allowed just one run on three hits — both season-bests. The rookie has now allowed three earned runs in his last 12 innings pitched and has a 10:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio over that span. Schwellenbach is scheduled to make his next start on Monday against the Cardinals. Rotoworld Tuesday, 6:55 pm
    • Lance Lynn has fourth straight rough start
Lance Lynn allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Marlins.

Advice: Lynn may have allowed only three extra-base hits, but he allowed 14 hard-hit baseballs and had an average exit velocity allowed of 95 mph. This is now the fourth straight rough start for Lynn, who has not pitched more than 5 1/3 innings in any of those starts, allowing a combined 16 runs (12 earned) in 18 innings. He did get 10 whiffs on 27 swings with his fastball on Tuesday but none of his other pitchers were particularly effective. He now has a 4.08 ERA and finds himself with a much tougher start next week against the Braves. Rotoworld Tuesday, 6:46 pm

    • Yordan Alvarez out Tuesday due to family matter
Yordan Alvarez is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the White Sox due to a family matter.

Advice: The positive news here for fantasy managers is that Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Alvarez could return as early as Wednesday. The 26-year-old slugger, who boasts a stellar .873 OPS with 14 homers and a career-high three steals this season through 71 games, is getting his first off day since May 18. • Dealing with family matter
Alvarez (personal) is absent from the Astros' lineup Tuesday versus the White Sox due to a family matter, according to manager Joe Espada, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Advice: Alvarez was set to take a seat for the first time since May 17, but it is now understood to be a result of a personal matter regarding his family. Espada said Tuesday that it's possible Alvarez is back with the team Wednesday, but his status appears to be day-to-day for the time being. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 3:32 pm
    • Breather Tuesday
Alvarez is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the White Sox, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Advice: Alvarez will get a breather after he went 2-for-9 with two RBI and two strikeouts over the team's three-game series with the Tigers prior to Monday's off day. Yainer Diaz will slot in at designated hitter while Victor Caratini enters the lineup at catcher and bats seventh versus Chicago. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 2:16 pm
    • Getting breather Tuesday
Wong is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Advice: Wong will get the day off Tuesday after making four consecutive starts. Reese McGuire will fill in behind the plate and bat seventh. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:53 pm
    • Idle Tuesday
Murphy is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: Murphy has struggled after missing the first two months of the season with an oblique injury, owning a .408 OPS and a 28.6 percent strikeout rate across 56 plate appearances with Atlanta. As Murphy works through the slow start, Atlanta will turn to Travis d'Arnaud behind the plate Tuesday for the fourth time in nine games. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:19 pm
    • Undergoes internal brace procedure
Wells (elbow) underwent a UCL revision and internal brace augmentation surgery Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Wells avoided the second Tommy John surgery of his career, after he previously had the procedure in May 2019. However, while the internal brace procedure typically entails a shorter recovery timeline than Tommy John surgery, Wells will still miss the remainder of the 2024 campaign, and likely a few months of the 2025 season.
